ok, follow me here (a 🧵 on escapism) i think all fiction is escapist because it's..fiction. it is by definition something different from our reality. HOWEVER, the rise of cozy genres is pointing to a categorical difference in escapism. in my opinion, there are two broader categories of escapism:
