Goddamn I hadn't made that connection. Thank you. Also, goddamn.

This is like Queen's "NO SYNTHS!" in the liner notes. I dig it.

Rogue One is boring with one exciting scene.

"my hot take? a movie is by definition meant to be a standalone experience."

I'll also say as a cishetwhitegenxdude, I have always considered myself to the left of most liberals and yet I'm 100% sure I said some reactionary shit in my twenties (and after). People are weird.

I think not being around pre-civil-rights-era led us to self-congratulation and vastly overestimating how progressive we are overall. I don't know that we are worse that other generations, but if people are trying to cast us as unusually left-wing or progressive, I think that's wishful thinking.

I'm GenX too, and I wish I was surprised. Our cohort has all the same failings of other generations, I'm afraid. Trump's appeals to cruelty, ignorance, tribalism, etc. are effective across many demographics.

Ah. Then you are fortunate.

I think all the copies of Ambergris are spoken for but if not, or if something falls through, dibs please.

The post I was responding to was suggesting that Democrats should say they will hold ICE agents accountable for their crimes. This will never happen.

I wish I had planned ahead to do this. Good work.

There is nothing that makes me stop listening to someone faster than using outdated slang in imitation of political figures like "nothingburger"

20 years?! Christ, I'm old. You are old. We are all old.

That's a bit naive, I'm afraid. Other posts here are remembering how Ronald Reagan immediately took down the solar panels that Carter put on the White House and how right-wingers still make fun of Carter asking Americans to put on a sweater to conserve energy.

They had this figured out for the few weeks between the start of Harris's candidacy and her debate. Then they lost the plot.

Agreed. And it's not just today. In "Policing a Class Society," Sidney Harring documents how police have always served this purpose in the USA. www.haymarketbooks.org/books/1089-p...

Agreed! I block people when I see that stuff, along with the center-left cope posts (fortunately I never see right-wing nonsense here). Love the octopus.

Artistically, aesthetically, this photograph is so beautiful and perfect. As an American it hits my nostalgia gland just a bit off-kilter which makes it even better.

I routinely block accounts in my “Discover” feed simply because I don’t think they are interesting, not because I hate them or disagree with them. Blocking is simply a tool to help improve your experience on the site.
