LLM in Human Rights. Opinions are my own, reposts not an endorsement. Cyclist, da, flatmate to Finrod (friend to man). Cat pics, Phillies, some law, tech and internet policy (day job), the odd Bucky/Klaes gif. Oh! And RPG stuff (mainly Call of Cthulhu).

When is the mod coming out for Tony Hawk where you dodge baton rounds and tear gas.

It’s all you deserve as a poser. (As apart from a poster)

He can be very good. Just never when I am watching. And I get fewer opportunities to watch than usual, because I live this side of the water. So I am very over him.

Books that have Windows 95 on the cover Books that have Windows 98 on the cover (These are a subset of the category “books I can’t really donate in good conscience)

There is nothing that sinks my heart more than seeing JT come up with a runner on 3rd. Oh right, there is. JT coming up with a runner on 1st.

You had to test them.

Dammit, just seeing the name Lieberthal makes me melancholy.

Irish prisons generally sound like fancy bottled water companies: mountjoy, wheatfields, clover hill, shelton abbey... The Brits, you gotta hand it to them, can name a prison. Wormwood Scrubs. Strangeways. Grendon. Moorland. Isis.

Cork has Spike Island while Dublin has Brendan.

Yeah, I saw that just now. It’s mad because you can see people blocking it fairly recently. And obviously users are being blocked. All kinds of mad.

(Which is gas because I went to mount temple which is nominally also a rugby school.)

Ah right. I never knew.

That is not a good way to make popcorn, buh.

Like there is absolutely someone out there who thinks shortening Belvedere to Belvo is going to make it more northside Dub. I can just hear them saying it.
comment in response to post
We were all denied a great popcorn moment there.

God. Belvo is absolutely a thing, isn’t it. Good Jesus.

Just realised that this is another nugget of speirgorm internet history I had no idea of. Good Jesus.

Don’t even think it is that, as herself had apparently not interacted with the account at all. Whatever the decision making though, it is provocatively poor.

Such a stark paragraph. I knew it was bad since 2010, but had not seen it expressed like that.

Loudly makes jokes about people in Howth and ‘Mala-hoide’, rapidly followed by ‘ah I’m only having ye on’.

It’s the preemptive blocking I am curious about. It’s a very small thing in the grand scheme of things, but deffo not a great look for a local authority initiative for tech in Dublin.

I think it’s a bad bit of judgement by their social media person. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out it’s a poor application of whatever social media package they are using. And honestly, wouldn’t be that bothered if it’s a private company, but it’s local authorities, and that is not a good look.

Choice gif usage there.

The preemptive blocking is what has me curious. People who have slagged off the bot, I can see them blocking. Not great, but I can see them doing it. But preemptive blocking either suggests they have really particular reasons, or a really badly applied rule. Neither are great for a local authority.

Better be blocking both north and south, or it would be even wilder.
comment in response to post
That would be even more egregious.

I just checked and it is initiative of four Dublin local authorities. And if they have blocked you, a leading Irish archeologist, that it is not a great look for whoever is running their social media.

This can only be a good thing
