The way in which guys who name their companies after artifacts of Tolkien's mythology so clearly haven't figured out that their ilk were its main antagonist will never not be hilariously...and perhaps tragically...funny: www.nytimes.com/2025/06/26/o...

The latest version of the Senate's BBB is a death sentence for US energy leadership and a giant gift to China. It eliminates tax cuts for solar that have been around since 2005, adds a new tax on solar after 2027, and creates a new direct subsidy for coal.

It's a better world with a cool, older Pamela Anderson in it:

Thinking again about how the media turned Bill Clinton talking to AG Loretta Lynch for 15 minutes into a major scandal for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election.

Exclusive: The U.S. DOGE Service has lost the power to control the government’s process for awarding billions of dollars in federal funds, the latest sign of the team’s declining influence following Elon Musk’s exit from Washington.

Iran has ALREADY dug out the tunnels at Isfahan, where most of Iran's highly enriched uranium was stored prior to attacks and PERHAPS during them. (1/2) www.cnn.com/2025/06/27/p...

Shot. Chaser.

Zeno’s authoritarianism

When Project 2025 became toxically unpopular and threatened Trump's election, he (and the entire institutional right) straight up lied about it. And it worked. Now, as his signature legislation faces similar backlash, he's doing the same thing. Elite desensitization to his breezy lying is deadly.

If you follow myself or any number of defense posters, you’d know CENTCOM is something of a meme. But there comes a point when meme becomes reality, sucking in resources in pursuit of increasingly pointless and dubious objectives all the while very real threats continue to fester. My latest⬇️

No notes…

Note: After China completed the non-nuclear components of their bomb and had enough HEU for it, it took only about 5 weeks to convert the HEU to metal, purify and pit cast it. The first bomb was then completed in mere hours.

Worth noting that the last time someone revoked a Mamdani family passport...it was Idi Amin's Uganda (and the passport belonged to the NYC Democrat's father). Nice company we're keeping these days...

well well well poll.qu.edu/poll-release...

Spoiler…David is, indeed, a wuss:

A lot of takeaways from Zohran’s DSA-powered win but one of them is that liberals are not the problem. The liberals voted Zohran (or Brad and also ranked Zohran). It’s reactionary centrists that ran the disgraceful race-bating campaign.

Strong Strasser vibes…

Careful guys, if you don’t control migration you might turn out like <checks notes> the greatest, wealthiest city in the world.

You could probably hear my bitter laugh in space…

Also a 'virtual' foreign policy:

Brad Lander: "I also need to thank some of the most important people in my life and on this campaign—I mean, of course, the NYT editorial board. Just kidding, of course: I love Wordle and Connections, but I really urge the Times to cancel their new feature 'Editorial Riddles.' No one likes those."

“I called him, I congratulated him” says Cuomo of Mamdani. Doesn’t, right now, sound like someone gearing up to take him on in November

"Having shifted from negotiations to bombing, Trump switched his happy talk from overselling the negotiations to overselling the bombing." A masterclass in how not to have a military conflict with another country.

As it stands Cuomo is about where he was in Emerson’s last poll (36%) but Mamdani 10 points higher, having cut into pretty everyone else’s support (about 4 from Adams, 2 from Lander, 1 each from Stringer, Mylie and Tilson.)

Dear lord...

Working for a Nobel like it’s a Daytime Emmy: www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

That administration officials chose to attack a DIA assessment, instead of noting that it's an early, low-confidence, single-agency judgment (iow something they didn't need to respond to with a flamethrower) suggests that the story of the damage, not the damage itself, is what matters most to them.

You can scratch Balls.

Wow

"The findings suggest that President Trump’s statement that Iran’s nuclear facilities were obliterated was overstated..." Worse than sane washing. Just a complete rewrite of history.

"The Iranian nuclear facilities are destroyed." ... "The Iranian nuclear facilities are not destroyed, but heavily damaged." ... "Damage to Iranian nuclear facilities is to be ascertained, but they are buried, possibly setting the effort back years." ... "The Iranian nuclear program may accelerate."

Nemesis coughing significantly in the background:

Quick thoughts on Iran’s nuclear options after the US air operations this past weekend: we are left with “problems that cannot be bombed away without intelligence of the sort that I think is unlikely to manifest at a high enough confidence level” panda.substack.com/p/irans-nucl...

How it will start...how it will finish:

Obviously it's a very bad moment but it is funny that Trump really seems to have thought he would win a Nobel Peace Prize by getting on the phone with a bunch of authoritarian sociopaths and saying "knock it off." Dumbest possible version of the Great Man Theory of History. The sports radio version.
