Our small, local "No Kings" group in Wheaton, IL today stood on a busy intersection. We used this as an opportunity to reclaim our flag which we rarely display any more. Though there were many affirmative "beeps" from passers by, one woman with a T hat stopped at the light. We were very kind.

Yep... it was strawberry color when it was close to the horizon tonight particularly enhanced by the smoke from the fires in Canada but I kind of like the moon in B&W.

Dick Rung was laid to rest with Dot today. I've never known him to be anything but a good and faithful servant. I'm thankful for his service on Omaha Beach, for teaching me political science 55 years ago, for being a very good friend, and for being the best great-grandpa to two of my grand kids.

Dick Rung, my old friend of more than 50 years passed away 2 weeks ago. Today, EXACTLY 81 years after he landed on Omaha Beach, we will celebrate his life in a memorial service. RIP, Dick.

Chupacabra in my back yard a few years ago... I'm told by wildlife folks that it's probably a fox with mange which was my second guess. Subsequent sightings confirmed that its health was improving. © 2022 William Koechling
