I need folks to stop with the solo dev narrative. It is hypothetically possible to make a game all by yourself. I promise you that 99.999999% of the commercial games that you’ve played were not made by one person. What’s more, devaluing the contributions of anyone touching the game is bullshit.

Knowing where a ttrpg mechanics comes from is important for two reasons. One, history. It’s cool to know how things were built and how they’ve evolved. From this, design ideas can grow and not repeat mistakes. Second, credits. Acknowledging another designers work in a mark of respect.
