My friend thinks it's a seaside cities thing. Consistently humid without rain until one big storm. I hope not though - steamy desert sounds like the worst of all worlds.

That's a real concern, for sure. I've only browsed through the paper and it does look like they try to address that aspect in some way, specifically mentioning provenance. Of course, mileage may vary. (One would think there should be a coherent universal policy to sort this out already)

Oh yeah, lots of good Japanese options but they tend to be very fancy.
These onigiri/kimbap types are popular sub $2 options from 24hr convince type places, never thought I'd see the day growing up here!

It's both different and familiar to the AMNH exprienece in NYC, one of my favorite spots in the city growing up. I think narrative/explanation side of the LA exhibits are better. Deeply impressed.
