Yeah, great point, that is the crucial difference isn't it! I *made* friends on Twitter so I'm not at all opposed to 'expanding reach' or whatever but for me that's been about building two-way friendships, not building a one-way audience.

I have a possibly fundamentalist view that MPs should not be talking in public about electoral strategy at all, because in the public context they're the output of the strategy, not the instigator of it

I'm not saying the BFI website is *good*, but I am genuinely surprised to see this thread because I quite regularly go to whatson.bfi.org.uk and tap today's date on the calendar to see what's on 🤔 Perhaps that URL is not readily findable from the homepage any more

I assume they will have tried to sell out each day's festival, so it won't be far off dividing equally. In fact, it's probably just the capacity multiplied by the days, regardless of current sales, surely. Anyway, my point stands that that sentence is making a ridiculous, disingenuous comparison

There's a Slack channel at work that pairs people up for random chats each month, and I got paired with someone a lot like your date. She literally sat on the Teams call in silence staring at me until I asked something else she could one-word answer. WHY DID SHE JOIN THAT SLACK CHANNEL 😭

I meant the one the electorate still quite liked in 2017 because the all-channels screaming hadn't had time to properly figure out how to scare them off him yet – unlike after a further 2½ years. As for who's next… Rayner? 🤞🏻

Although a possible lesson I took from 2017/2019 is that the later you spring a radical new Labour leader on the establishment, the less time they have to figure out what attack lines will make people scared to vote for the candidate proposing loads of stuff most people really like the sound of
