We don't need to ask Mr. Atmosphere Richard - we just need to look at our insurance bills. Fortunately I live in a relatively high spot in my suburb and was able to drop flood insurance (which had gone up ~40% from memory)

An issue that affects v. few people getting blown up out of all proportion, so that unaffordable housing or escalating prices or fossil-fuel industry stealing our resources can avoid discussion ...

Maybe that quote can be used in future at the trial of alleged war criminals Netanjahu & Co on charges of crimes against humanity & genocide for their conduct in Gaza?

All who voted for minority government were fearing this, esp. after ALP betrayed the transition to renewables by prioritising gas last term with their β€œgas-led recovery”. Has extinguished hope, not just for limiting climate disasters but also for an Australia that is more than a quarry and a colony.

This sounds like the voice of a rusted-on ALP supporter or even staffer - you could Google and find plenty of examples, but of course you don't do even that. Here's one before I say goodbye: www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Does this mean you are giving away more of our resources for free Albo? Australia as a colony exploited by foreign fossil-fuel companies and an increasingly dictatorial USA, all courtesy of you & Marles. Haven't been this ashamed of our country since craven Howard signed us up as 'US Deputy' #auspol

Really - I don't see it myself? I was trying to make the point our government denies things that are obvious to us - climate change, supplying Israel with defence material - and linking that with Trump's behaviour where he consistently denies reality. Anyway, that's my defence your honour ... πŸ™‚

Aren't power prices set by the highest-cost fuel, namely gas? Doesn't your ALP let most of this get exported tax-free while refusing to reserve any for us? Didn't Japan re-export more gas last year than we consumed? It's clear whose side you are on Chris, and it's certainly not ours ... #auspol

Rupert writes the headlines doesn't he?

Maybe you can ask the Productivity Commission members how many are living on the average wage?
comment in response to post
Well if our government can deny climate change poses no threat to us in the face of ever-increasing climate disasters then I guess they can deny anything. Maybe Albo's ALP is going 'full-Trump' with an embrace of 'alternative facts'? #auspol

Just like here in OZ private grid operators did what was best for their bottom line and not what was best for a reliable grid - who would have thought! πŸ€ͺ

I don't suppose you asked Malcolm if he would be interested in starting a progressive liberal party to seize the huge economic opportunities available for renewables in this country? No more AUKUS, and no more squandering of renewables for fossil-fuel donations - who wouldn't vote for that? #auspol
comment in response to post
As someone whose Jobseeker was cut off a month before I returned to study (and Austudy finally kicked in) the system remains punitive and opaque, even after Robodebt scandal. Albo is happy though as he gets donations from private Employment providers who benefit and so nothing will change ...
comment in response to post
So maybe start proposing what to do instead David? We can see that Scomo's AUKUS is a dud, but what do Greens intend to do to ensure we have sufficient defence capability? Is Rex Patrick's alternative similar to what Greens would be proposing? #auspol
comment in response to post
According to the ALP what we need is another 3 years of 'virtue-signalling' fluff like this while ignoring neg. gearing, capital-gains tax, building of public housing, rent caps and high immigration. Really no future under ALP ...

You know that Medicare is decades old don't you ALP staffer? The fact that this is all you have to talk about shows just how out of touch ALP is. Albo got lucky with LNP stooges Scomo & Dutton but he is yesterday's man - really think more fossil-fuels and AUKUS will win you the next election?
comment in response to post
How is expanding fossil-fuel use while making public pay for the increasing climate disasters via taxes & insurance helping cost-of-living? How is not rapidly expanding storage for cheap renewables while keeping expensive gas in our grid (that set power price) helping cost-of-living? #auspol
comment in response to post
Not sure exactly what amount of donations Gaming industry pay but probably along the lines of what fossil-fuel industry in order to export most of our gas tax-free ie. very little

I still think the Libs should bring back the 'Serfdom' tax policy - that would help boost 'lagging productivity'!

The point of no return may have been the Democrat leadership actively working against Bernie Sanders before he lost nomination to Clinton. Bernie's campaign resonated deeply with those angered about inequality and being sold-out while Hillary supported status quo (despite many other good qualities)
comment in response to post
I calculated a while back that ~$70 Billion in repayable loans would allow the 4 million+ solar panel owners to install a battery and so massively reduce the need for expensive fossil-fuels in our grid. For an ALP reliant on fossil-fuel donations that's obviously the last thing they want ... #auspol

Note to ALP Staffer: Albo has decided nature can now be sacrificed for jobs & fossil-fuels so please update your ALPNewMember.jsx script: At the start '{newMember} is a {currentPromo} ...' change currentPromo variable to "big supporter of gas!" - thx! πŸ™‚
comment in response to post
Who needs nature when you've got gas! When those forests get burn down shortly in the next climate-induced 'unprecedented' bushfire I do hope David will authorise fracking companies to move in and 'drill Baby drill'!
comment in response to post
Didn't you get the message from Albo - it's all about gas now! Aren't you going to tell us about how letting Woodside export $200 Billion of gas with no PRRT paid is going to help drive the 'transition' Chris? How 'low-emission' gas and 'carbon credits' will stop climate disasters?
comment in response to post
I guess every little bit helps as we pay the increasing cost of climate disasters through our insurance & taxes. It would be great if Woodside and the fossil-fuel industry could 'chip in' to help cover these costs, but under Albo it appears only the 'little people' have to pay ...

I'm not sure Kent - I thought most were voting to keep out Dutton? But as you say it is now policy and will be so at least until another election. Labor supporters may be happy with this but I don't think Labor understands the level of betrayal felt by others wanting action on climate & renewables.

Yep, the cost of climate change is starting to really add up now. Citizens are sure to get very restless and most likely litigious ...

Not only gas companies - @albomp.bsky.social and Gas minister King must be laughing their heads off at the gullibility of Australian voters, as they make us pay all the costs of climate disasters via taxes & insurance while their gas mates export our gas for free. 'How good's Australia!' #auspol

Future Gas Strategy was announced last term so really only this election. Huge ALP win though built upon preferences of those wanting a renewables future, support that has now been eviscerated. Clever '2-faced' politics to win an election, but ask Tony Abbott about the consequences of doing so ...

Well, Albo is a pathetic leader, despite the election result achieved by the ALP. Kerry Packer got one Alan Bond in his lifetime while Albo's has gotten two - conman Scomo and the 'Monster' Dutton
