I think too hard about music and sad things, and I try a lot to be nice to people. Video games are pretty cool too.

Like I may think these plots get kind of ridiculous and formulaic at times, but nonetheless, I can appreciate that these authors have different styles, phrasing, diction, stuff that makes writing actually writing. There's genuine craft here, and soulless LLM slop just feels so hollow in comparison

I'm pretty exhausted today so I'm stopping for now but about 20 pages in and our nun warrior is also a spy now. Also I just wanna say, for certain reasons I've had to read a bunch of AI generated text lately, and GOD this book is such a breath of fresh air compared to that, honestly

The first story page of the book is a half page, and by the end of it our female protagonist has killed like four people. Page 2 we find out she's a nun. Now THIS is how to start a book

Bro I'm not even past the inside cover yet and I'm already entertained, LOOK AT ALL THESE

Anyway. Since that last book ended up being kinda tame in terms of absurdity, I figured I'd really need to step it up if I was going to read another romance novel. But what could be even more entertaining and goofy than cowboy soldier romance?

It's been a couple of months since I updated this thread, but I did finish this book back then. It was actually kinda alright tbh, I think the multiple character perspectives actually did a lot to help the pacing stay reasonable.

oh also very minor, but Disaster is referenced very briefly in DS9 and it's a fun episode, totally skippable if your list is getting long though

your list is pretty light on Worf/the Klingons for how important they are in DS9, I'd recommend at least Sins of the Father for the introduction on Kurn, but Redemption 1+2 are solid episodes and completely the whole "worf's dishonor" arc for TNG

you mentioned Malkmus, are you a David Berman fan too? I think Purple Mountains would definitely qualify for this question, though it's similarly technically under a different project name than his other stuff.
