Americans voted against the most successful economic recovery of any nation on the planet for this, because they were mad at their servants being paid more and listened to liars who made them feel good.

It’s a month since the administration detained and disappeared a green card holder, a lawful permanent resident. We cannot allow this to be normalized or forgotten.

Conversation: Neighbor, "My husband lost his job today. They are having massive layoffs where he works." Me, "Before I offer my condolences, who did you guys vote for?"

💯

One of my least favorite tropes in fiction that is something that never happens real life: Person A: “I have something important to tell you. I—“ Person B: “Wait, I have something to tell you.” *says something undermining Person A’s thing* B: “Now what did you wanna tell me?” A: “Uh Never mind!”

It’s not just that they fundamentally misunderstand basic economics, but that they also want to live a fantasy where they make $200k working at a toaster-making factory while their stay-at-home wife makes dinner for them in the suburbs and cares for their 4 children.

Finally *liberated* from a strong economy, record stock market, and historically low unemployment.

Already seeing MAGA types pivoting to, “It’s just money! Nobody will remember this anyway!”

“I’ll be 10 min late sorry!!!” -ashamed -fragile -unreliable “A thousand apologies. The relentless slog of time has overtaken my faculties.” -powerful -commanding -honest

Dumb headline: “Trump’s tariff-announcement day arrives as he gambles big with risky policy.” This implies a clear reward to be gambling with risk for, but there is no clear benefit that anyone can clearly see. The only upside is if other countries just fully capitulate and give us favors. Dumb.

Listening to Silo series audiobooks for dystopian science fiction because it’s way less bad than listening to events about the real world.
