I like the tap filling a bath analogy.
Annual Inflation is the speed at which the water is coming out of the tap.
The level of the water in the bath is the cost of living.
When water overflows, we start to feel it.
You can turn the taps down as low as you want and the floor still gets wetter.

But what about the human side? If you're going to play for this guy, you're going to want to see him invested in the project.
Don't get me wrong, he'll get me support and (other than perhaps more defensive than I'd like), his CV looks perfect for us right now.
