Efficiency can only be calculated with the proper numerator and denominator. And only in relation to some other rate. Thus the question is not how many emails you respond to per hour, but how many historical insights per time period compared to other historians of the Early Republic.

Further thought - so often the last month or so I am watching something written and filmed last year and think “oh you can tell it’s from before” much like the TV that debuted in 3/20-6/20 where it was all Before.

Watched the filmed version with my daughter (20 still loves it) in honor of the anniversary of Lexington and Concord and had a very similar reaction. I mourn the country to spawned and swelled to the show. We were so naive.

My Uncle died in the liberation of Italy. All 5 guys in his three block immigrant neighborhood were in the infantry in Europe. 4 died. Of the six relatives I can count on my WASP side of the family who served not a single one actually saw combat.

This is the story of civil rights for each of us… folks bring suit after suit… they didn’t always win but they kept fighting and then they won big…. Bowers vs Hardwick eventually surpassed by Lawrence v Texas….
