Right? And then they start trying to see what's on my phone. That's when I put on some old people porn. They give me space after that.

This was not, despite all evidence, karaoke. It was a band with instruments and everything.

Barry Bonds has entered the chat from home plate at McCovey Park (I refuse to lessen that beautiful venue by associating it with the name of its current sponsor).

Russia called blowing up the airplanes used to bomb Ukrainians "terrorism." Okay then, what would they call bombing Ukrainians in their own homes night after night?

I think it's more of a universal case in which we don't hear our own phonemes unless they're mispronounced. I'm thinking of how before things became so ugly Ukrainians used to raz Russians over their pronunciation of паляниця. Every sound is native to the Russian language, but they just can't manage

But I'd read that as "ensEEN" which wouldn't be right either. In English we have the concept of the schwa, in Japanese they have the elided "u" (or "oo") sound at the end of a lot of words. Does Russian have a similar concept of a placeholder vowel?
