Provincial governments removed rent controls and did nothing to create affordable housing or student housing, let Air BnB type operations grow unchecked ... and when the feds offer to help even though it's not their jurisdiction, then all blame falls on them 🙄

Once you see how provincial #conservative funding cuts actually hurt citizens you can’t unsee it. In #AB & #ON lower funding to public education, public healthcare, social programs actually increases poverty, addiction, food bank demands, homeless issues & social unrest.#UCP

Housing is in provincial and municipal jurisdiction. PERIOD.
The ONLY reason the feds have become involved is because of RAMPANT disinfo spread in the media by the opposition about this and because the Conservative-led provinces and municipalities are failing Canadians.
