To be fair, they're not wearing masks, so they got that going for them.

Why do you call them “investors?” Trump meme coins are explicitly not an “investment.” Aren’t there any more appropriate words that would apply? Donors? Bribe offerors? Marks?

Did the amicus brief have gold fringe on it? If not, it must be transferred to Admiralty Court.

For the graduates or soon to be graduates of their Naval Academy. Similar to USCG Academy tall ship Eagle which travels to foreign ports.

Wouldn't you like to see the raw time sheets for the K&L Gates associate for "Legal Research and Writing re: in camera privilege review" before this got caught? Twenty, thirty, forty hours? Who knows.
comment in response to
post
Exactly. We know the bill would have been huge had this not been caught. The affidavit of the associate at K&L describes his role in writing the brief and admits that he did not check the cites provided by the first firm; he apparently only did his own supplemental research.

They're not named in the Order, but their identities are revealed in their affidavits appended to the Order wherein they tried to explain away their conduct.

"Tackification" is the perfect description of it. Saudi Princes and New Orleans bordellos would both be mortified by this decor.

My dad, a Javits/Lindsey republican (look it up, you kids) always referred to the show as Evans and Novak, after their weekly newsletter (look that up too, you kids).

I saw the movie in a theater when it came out. Only other people there were 3 dudes. About 20 minutes in, one guy said to his friends “I don’t think they’re that good.” I’d have to look, so I’m not sure if it was after Sex Farm or possibly Big Bottom. Anybody know for sure?

I can't believe I know one of the lawyers in that advertisement. Next time I see him, I'll ask him where he keeps the way-overpriced plaque he had to buy. What a joke.

It's a shame they wasted a gallon of green and brown paint when they were doing their EW mods. They should have kept the original orange paint.

I think you meant "motel." Specifically, the one out by the airport that has been reflagged four times. Started as a holiday inn, became a ramada, then a motel 6, and now is a no-name hot sheet spot. Looking forward to seeing you by the hot tub.

Serious Question Tom: Badia or Everything else that is Substandard?
Badia is the only good thing in Doral, Fla.

Apparently she doesn't know that "real" Second Amendment supporters believe that gov't is the problem and violence using firearms is the solution. Remember Ruby Ridge? Waco Branch Davidians? Cliven Bundy, et al.?

Just spitballin' here, but one possible way to handle this would be to do crappy work (Big Law is spectacularly capable of bad work). Their "supervisors" at DOJ won't notice it (lookin' at you, Pamela Jo), so they won't even have to put their carriers on notice of a potential malpractice claim.

I like the way Judge Farbiarz writes -- clearly and simply (less lawyerly), with explanatory links from each part to the next. I also like that the Court uses unjustified Courier font with old-school 2 spaces after each period (which was standard when using typewriters). Outstanding.

Apparently, you’ve never dealt with Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. As my father used to say, they’re a whole ‘nother level of lawyers unburdened by even a moment of self-doubt.
