I'm going to get ahead of some uninformed outrage. The second-degree murder charges against Vance Boelter are all that can be brought against him right now. Prosecutors can charge him with first-degree premeditated murder, but that requires a grand jury indictment, not just a criminal complaint.

I went for a walk in Lebanon Hills Park today for similar reasons, and everything is terrible, but there are also warblers and wildflowers. It doesn't make everything better, but it was a reminder that life goes on and that there is still beauty and joy that can exist alongside the grief.
