I also love this desire path comic by Chaz Hutton (instachaaz on instagram) that demonstrates that we may attempt to deny our nature, but we will always ultimately be meanderthals

The 1000+ incunabula University of Glasgow holds have really excellent catalogue records due to a 10+ year cataloguing project and the expertise of Jack Baldwin www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/in.... To do something comparable for the 16th and 17c would be lovely but a BIG task, so just sporadic currently

Have you tried the Merlin app? It identifies different bird songs. I’m completely addicted. Every walk I go on I’m using it to help work out which birds are around me. Great fun

There’s no enjoyment in the getting up. But there is a rising elation as you drive north, and the sky clears and the sun rises, the clouds clear and the day presents itself. Quite a thrill

Philip Gaskell is an interesting one. Groundbreaking work on historical bibliography with eg 18th century Baskerville press (1959) and Foulis press (1964) on one hand and then a groundbreaking work of 19th century local history of Highland Clearances in Morvern in Lochaber (1968)

Also bound with loads of blank leaves at the back. Presumably for notes or additional receipts to be added (though sadly unannotated)
