Can't believe this country voted for such a moron.
I vote against the GOP in every election for any position. All blue.

(3) Both Parker and Snowy had chosen my wife to be their person. We're both grieving, but it's hit her particularly hard.
Will we add another rescue pet to the household? Of course, but for now we're just enjoying Missy, our younger rescue cat.

(2) On May 1, 2025, we lost Parker, a mixed breed, smaller boy, who had been with us for 10 years. He was a daycare favorite, as he was always the best boy and loved dogs and people - after he got to know them.
On May 6, 2025, we lost Snowy, our beautiful and loving white cat.

What the firms would be wise to remember: the client relationship is with the individual, not the firm. I have followed attorneys, financial advisors, and accountants when they changed firms. Integrity and trust cannot be underestimated.

I love the horns in that song, and that foghorn sound ... oh yeah!

Agreed! You can also tell a lot about a person by how they treat the waiter or waitress, or the clerk in a store. Kindness for the win!

No wonder I feel exhausted all the time. It's difficult to be calm with this direct assault on the American people and institutions.

This is Katy, who we lost last year at age 13. She was my walking companion; we walked hundreds of miles together.
In this picture, she was on her favorite chair in my office. I miss her dearly.

I use Charity Navigator to vet charities I am interested in. I used it so much I included Charity Navigator in my year-end giving.
Bear in mind that gifts through CN can take up to 30 days to reach the chosen charity.

Good to see another white cat! Snowy is our first.

Our Snowy had all of his teeth removed and his gums cleaned out. He looked like a chipmunk for about 2 weeks, but it made a huge difference in his life. I can't imagine how painful eating must have been before the surgery. He's a happy boy now!

Sounds like another USA Today, People or Readers Digest. Lofty aims!
Such a steep drop for one of the nation's premiere newspapers. It wasn't that long ago that the Post was admired for its investigative reporting. Sigh.

Absolutely loved Powell's when we were in Portland. All the nooks and rooms filled with books! I shipped home a large collection of new and used books gathered in just a few hours.

This thread is both amusing and painful to read. It's one thing to hear malapropisms, but to read them? Ugh.

When I need to quiet my mind, jigsaw puzzles do the trick. The puzzles use a different part of the brain that is calming to a noisy mind.

Even though I cannot vote for you, you still represent me. Keep up the good fight!

OMG. To get a program to run:
- Type out a command. One command per card.
- Submit your card deck to be run sometime in the next half hour.
- Job fails.
- Figure out your error, re-punch your cards, and try again.
I remember a whole night getting a 200-line Fortran program to run. Geez.

Can't tell you how many times I had to kill vmmem. Made running a VM on Windows unworkable for me. Still using WAMP.

I tried Mint on an old Windows 7 machine some 6 or 7 years ago. Has Mint improved enough to revisit? I wasn't impressed back then.

My 10 year old computer isn't a candidate for Windows 11, so I got the "prepare for the end of Windows 10" email. Gotta love Microsoft.

Super impressed! Amateur woodworking -- speaker cabinets, utilitarian furniture -- is the only crafting work I've been able to handle.

That's some neat work! You do your own metal forming, I assume. Do you do your own powder coating as well?

It's disheartening that in an age where knowledge has never been more accessible - the United States is about to be governed by an administration so primitive and ignorant as to believe that tariffs are good and that vaccines are bad.

It's always heartbreaking. This summer I lost my walking companion, so I empathize.

Sorry, it's us from Delaware who she represents. She never campaigned as a trans person, though she didn't keep it a secret. I voted for her as an experienced representative and don't give a fig about her gender. I voted for her to represent her constituents.

The Virginia primary election is June 17, 2025, and the general election is November 4, 2025. All the candidates are starting from scratch, as Youngkin is term limited.

And our allies will no longer share intelligence with the US, knowing we have the ultimate security risk as President.

I live in the only red county in Delaware. I saw mostly Trump signs before -- and after -- the election. This is a refuge!
