Metastatic? Ouch. I thought presidents were better taken care of...

It looks like for whatever reason the English history starts with the visigoths and skips the gallo roman fortification mentioned in the French versions: fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cit%C3%...

It's good business. To make an argument for the glass half full, maybe some people who wouldn't do the effort just for Paris, come and taste some French culture because of Disneyland. Don't know how many, but there might be some.

History is just stories, I think if it's told by a decent storyteller any kid would like history. It's up to the parents I guess to put this in a fun setting.

Interesting, in the wiki they say the first fortifications there were visigoth, the "master builder ' we saw the other day explained they were roman.

Boy almost 16 and girl 13. I guess they both like history. We've been to Disneyland too a couple of times I would like them to know the world under many aspects. A great amusement park to visit in France is Puy du Fou, I highly recommend it for all ages.

It's the third visit for me and the second with my kids. On the last 2 we had guided tours with re enactors, each time you get a better picture of the Middle Ages life there then just with the history manual stuff.

This time we rented a car, so we tried to take advantage of it. We visited a castle in Spain, revisited Carcassonne and did some hiking and stand up paddling

Saint Cyprien, in the PyrΓ©nΓ©es Orientales. Probably the dryest part of France. We had summer weather all week.

Looks good, and also, like a lot of work π
For me, I'm coming back from vacation, so just rest will do fine.

Hi Tasha, if you're looking for a honest man why post photos of Lil Reinhart instead of yourself?

Yepp fair enough. To be seen, I still hold some hope not everything will go downhill in Europe.

Look, I'm not judging at all, but when there is a mismatch between the title and the conclusion of the article I call that mild click bait. Far from the worst I've seen, but still. French justice is notoriously lenient with blue collar crime, but until now I have no reasons for doubt in politics

From what I've seen, everybody needs to do a bit of click bait these days to increase engagement π€·. I put this in that category. Long live the algorithm...

Yesterday in Paris only 7k people demonstrating for Le Pen. We'll see what the appeal gives, but I'd say democracy is holding up pretty well in France for now.

For now it still is fair, I mean if an appeal was judged after the election and change the sentence she would've missed the election for a technicality, and it would be unfair.I would be surprised if the sentence changes a lot, that would be bad.If that happened, you'd have millions in the streets

I don't think so, justice in France works reasonably well with white collar crime. I think we'll just see how Bardella does now.

There is no such consensus. She was definitely guilty, it was a big fraud and she never showed any remorse or even admitted any guilt. Maybe less prison, but ineligibility is completely fair.

It's still one of those times when reality beats fiction. It's worse than 9/11 by a mile

I am more afraid of slow insidious erosion of democracy. Right now it's not at all what's happening. They are moving fast and have loads of ropes to hang themselves with. Very soon most of the people who voted for them and hoped for the better will realize they didn't sign up for this at all.

Well there's nothing bad about a little alcohol, I would say in times like these it's even necessary to relieve some stress. But smoking is indeed something better to completely avoid. Otoh, Trump is going so fast with his "reforms", we might hit bottom pretty quickly :-P

Well, first happy birthday! I would say yes, but be sure to exercise and eat well to have all the odds on your side :-)

Was worth logging to the Twitter web. Still, I wonder if we know the whole story. In any case, it shows a possible path to success for smaller actors.

Unfortunately a lot of good people have fallen to the dark side, once they are absorbed into the alternate social media reality, they are almost impossible to get out. All they see there are confirmations over confirmations of the craziest stuff.

That's one of his less crazy ideas π
. We'll see if he really will be health secretary, but the US is quickly becoming a country where reality beats fiction for crazy.
