What about alyssum and or allium, both are fairly tolerant of different conditions and I mostly suggest them as I do know what the proper conditions are for bloodgrass, alyssum has many colors to choose from

Gave this a shot with some wisteria earlier in the spring

Fig can be miraculous, I have one that squirrels eat through the trunk to ground level and it pushed out new leaves after a month or two. May just want to give it time and see if it comes back
