FWIW I also think this is one of the reasons why software engineers tend to be the biggest hypers of the technology; it's an industry that is used to offloading liability, and so the idea of it producing output where you have a culture of strict liability in the output isn't as much on their radar

It's not that LLMs make mistakes and humans never do--humans make mistakes all the time--it's that society is busy dismantling accountability systems so that when the LLM-business takes a case and gets it right they pocket the profit, but when it makes a mistake, you suffer the cost with no recourse
