A little Lawry's all-purpose seasoning on cottage cheese is nice. Maybe with a few cherry tomatoes.

A good resource for this stuff is @jeffsharlet.bsky.social ...he's been writing about it for a while now, and at least one of his books was turned in to a Netflix doc.

That "popularity" was the last of the approval polling from the generation who still believed in "supporting the troops" no matter what they were wrongfully ordered to do, and morons.

the easy number to remember for AC is 30 - expect about 30 degrees of cooling over ambient outdoor temps, minus a little on humid days. so if you hit 105, setting it for 70 or lower is asking for trouble.
100+ degree day? 72-78+
95 degrees or lower you should be able to hit 65 or 70.
good luck!!

first turn it off entirely for about an hour if you can. if there IS ice that'll give it time to thaw, and maybe recover & start cooling before you go to sleep.

a 70F set point at 50% humidity can be hard on your system if it's 100F+ outside. all that available water in the air makes it easier to freeze the coils which reduces (and eventually kills) cooling efficiency.

You could fit more hydration in that jar if you remove the terrarium first, just sayin.

Both types are fine but likely they will get more out of it watching from a producer angle than a consumer angle, at least for the first go.

Your kid has already made huge strides shifting from media consumer to media producer. If they are serious about the genre, then sequels are kinda required viewing... homework for future directors. Just be sure to have the talk about the difference between watching for fun vs. critical consumption.

It's weird how chicken and eggs like such mid temps. I was a fry chicken/scramble eggs on high guy for the longest time!
comment in response to
post
the other thing you can do if you are having trouble hitting a high enough internal temp is to let the chicken sit out for 10-15 mins ahead of frying to assume room temp. that'll give you about 30 degrees leeway that they don't have to sit in the oil to attain.

low temp, longer time is key -- 325 to 350 is a great starting oil temp.

The magic is in "wild caught" and the preservation or preparation method. That area has been working with salmon so long that they've got all the local variations on smoke and curing worked out. Excited for you cos you'll probably run into more than a few "Grandma's Secret Recipe" cures..!

If this were my trip I would look for as many different places to try smoked salmon as possible.
