The problem is that both Schumer and Jeffries support war with Iran, at the very least backing Israel as far they want to go.
comment in response to post
They saw it as an opportunity to show how bipartisan and reasonable they are. Mommy party nonsense.
comment in response to post
More of a rhetorical aside. I think it’s a distraction to focus on one policy position given the likely reality that no one is going to end up happy with election results with what’s on offer.
comment in response to post
I’m not sure you get to complain about an idea you simply don’t like after a decade of electing the same people who fail to fix problems over and over again. Imagine electing Cuomo to fix problems as Mayor that he didn’t bother to help fix or failed to fix as Governor.
comment in response to post
If they had all voted against Trump appointees simply on principle we wouldn’t be having this discussion right now.
comment in response to post
Who are they kidding? They voted to show that they were bipartisan and willing to work with Republicans and got exactly what they voted for.
comment in response to post
These Dem senators want so desperately to do business as usual.

We have decades of history of states using legislative power to weaken unions. Cop unions happen to be destructive to society and good for cops.
comment in response to post
Again, with making up arguments that haven’t been made. I’m arguing to exercise political power at the state level to pass laws through a democratic process. What part of that is “fascist”? Maybe stop throwing out words that don’t apply.
comment in response to post
Again, why be an asshole? Reforming police unions is necessary. This can be done at the state level.
comment in response to post
I think we were having a perfectly fine and reasoned discussion without you have to make up things that weren’t said. Yes, I don’t think state legislators have maxed out doing everything they can potentially do. Why be an asshole?
comment in response to post
I’ve thought about this a little bit. You fire 10% right off the bat with whatever criteria. Then you target the troublemakers in waves. You reform hiring and training. You implement a strict social media policy etc.
comment in response to post
Cuomo has been opposed to congestion pricing lately even though he supported it as governor. I suspect he’d trade it away for something with Trump.

www.courthousenews.com/california-l... This would be productive.

I don’t think the goal is to fight the federal government. The goal is to have local law enforcement that is actually accountable to the public and subject to civilian oversight. A byproduct of that is being able to use law enforcement to maybe look into whether these masked goons are actually Feds.
comment in response to post
Hey, let’s not try anything and pretend we have no power at all in the localities and states we control. Why bother voting at all? This is an incredibly defeated attitude. States have the power to regulate local enforcement. Its inherent. Most are too chickenshit to exercise that power.
comment in response to post
No, I’m not overestimating it at all. I’m saying they need to be brought to heel. The police unions need to be crushed. Some cops need to be fired. This is what’s required to have law enforcement that is accountable to the public. And most Dems just don’t have the guts to have that fight.
comment in response to post
Oh, I don’t know. Who do you fund to enforce the laws? And ultimately who controls those purse strings in cities like NYC?
comment in response to post
The media promoted Adams for mayor and is now promoting someone who is as ethically and compromised.
comment in response to post
She showed up for a Dem politician. She’s not showing up for a dishwasher who gets nabbed by some thugs in an unmarked van in full view of the public.
comment in response to post
No, smartass. Perhaps a state law or something along those lines that might prevent these guys from operating like armed gangs in the first place.
comment in response to post
It’s on Dem politicians to find a solution for this.
comment in response to post
They are lazy, to be honest, and wanted to take a non confrontational approach to Trump’s second term.
comment in response to post
Still waiting for Dem governors to do something about masked goons taking people off the streets.
comment in response to post
Vibes.
comment in response to post
I don’t think Trump cares about regime change as much as blowing shit up and getting credit for it from the media.
comment in response to post
The NYT is committed to spreading Trump’s attacks on Democrats while covering up for his failures as a President.
comment in response to post
When Jeremy Peters wrote that piece about Musk’s politics he was actually defending his paper’s editorial views.
comment in response to post
Like it or not, but the consensus on avoiding civilian casualties has changed quite a bit in the last couple years. People have gotten used to seeing mass civilian deaths on social media and news reports.
comment in response to post
Missiles and drones become much more effective if you’re able to degrade air defenses. Iran will likely fail to do that otherwise there would be many more casualties.
comment in response to post
I think the solution here is to dismantle the police unions and simply fire 10% of cops with the worst misconduct records. If you don’t do the work required you don’t get to have a well paid, great benefits government job.
comment in response to post
We need to get creative with how to hold PD’s accountable. I think focusing on the funding and related taxes is actually a weak spot for cops as an interest group. The public shouldn’t be spending 40% of the budget on the police nor hundreds of millions on unnecessary overtime and legal settlements.
comment in response to post
You’ll notice that Dems will often not even run for office to lead law enforcement departments. Blue state leaders seem to not want to take responsibility for the behavior of cops nor hold them accountable for mass misconduct.
comment in response to post
Just block these right wing fools on sight.
comment in response to post
It’s a actually an indictment of how terrible the NYT and other mainstream orgs are that criticism from that guy lands home. Tone, headlines, how certain stories are covered or not covered, left bashing, the tendency to both sides, all play a role in that.
comment in response to post
Don’t know those details yet.
comment in response to post
Well, the answer is that he shot at them and cops decided they didn’t want to risk their lives by storming the house. Thats why they used the drones.
comment in response to post
They are literally coming to your door to kill their political enemies.
comment in response to post
Stop stating things I have never said as if I have said them, you miserable cretin.
comment in response to post
We’re living under a fascist regime and many of their supporters want to kill you. Many of us have people worth protecting.
comment in response to post
Lol. It’s not their nuclear program you have to worry about. It’s the missiles and drones which they will continue to manufacture.
comment in response to post
😅
comment in response to post
Don’t be naive. They could have moved forward on developing nukes or a dirty bomb at any time in the last 15 years. But the west does not fear Iran like Israel does. We do not care if they like us or not.
comment in response to post
You don’t need to fear monger with us. Iran is not threat to western countries. It can’t even secure its own air space.
comment in response to post
How about taking neither side as both have targeted civilians in war?
comment in response to post
All Dem voters from all across the spectrum failed to stop fascism.
comment in response to post
Wrong, but keep making stupid comments. I think you can’t help it.
comment in response to post
Are you really complaining about tactics? From the same people opposed to get ridding of the same elected Democrats who have failed to stop fascism over and over again in elections.
comment in response to post
There’s a lesson here for Dems in how to win these people back. And they should try.
comment in response to post
That stroke turned him into zombie McCain.
