Also, like, they're weirdly gate-keepy about it, too. To them, you can't be a "real" fantasy fan if you're not constantly glazing Tolkien. Yet point out that he was part of a broader literary tradition... And let's not forget Robert E. Howard (Conan>LOTR. Fight me).
