The terminally online mind cannot comprehend this

Fine, I'll do it myself!

really happy to finally get this out in the world: @romchip.bsky.social is finally launching it's FREELANCER FUND. This initiative is designed to PAY FOR original work by journalists, public historians, & others who work on a contract/freelance basis. Read more: donate.romchip.org/freelancer-f...

Digitizing a copy of Ultima IV at The Strong Museum today, it includes some hand drawn maps! Always cool to see! @richardgarriott.bsky.social

Haven't played FTL in a bit, first round and there I am!

This one came up in our ICHEG census this year. Dumped it, matched the final 100%, but still a cool Colecovision cart!

It's fun to think that, with enough time and effort, you could potentially re-render a bunch of old assets for cutscenes and the like. It isn't as easy as just hitting a button, but it's certainly doable! From the Volition collection at The Strong.

It's always a pleasure to share the work that we do with such amazing people. Someday, we will do the pro wrestling exhibit!

Erik Andersen (@eland.bsky.social) has been a regular at #ROCGameFest the last few years showing off So to Speak, his game about learning Japanese. He recently had a chance to talk to @hitsave.org about it.

What if Balatro came out for the Nintendo E-Reader? 😍 #balatro #nintendo #yesplease

Great video from TrekkiesUnite118 showing how the Saturn's 2D chip VDP2 could be used to make multiple tiered ground planes, saving poly count while showcasing impressive effects.

Some other good stuff in the queue for the day today.

Working through some troublesome discs today, trying to get as much data from them as possible.

Found some more Sega Saturn discs that would have gone with the Parallax Descent port. Always nice to see a System Disc!

Brendon always makes some of the coolest games, and was one of the first to support the work I do at The Strong. Looking forward to diving into Skin Deep soon!

I kept seeing people say that Final Fantasy XI still needed PS2 devkits to make new content, despite no longer being playable on PS2 for many years. The FF wiki claims it too, with no source. Well, here it is. It sounds like they scrounged dozens of devkits from around the world.

Popping in for a quick moment from my ongoing, indefinite, self-imposed social media moratorium to say… 🎊 Unauthorizon is back! 🎊 Cheers to @pirategamething.com and everyone else involved. youtu.be/x7hyVVDj1h0

Descent 2 was shown at e3 1995, nearly a year before its release in March 1996. It looked like this.
