For doctrinal reasons, a surgical mask is even better than a respirator. The surgical mask protects not just you, but the people around you as well. That was the whole point of them during the peak of COVID and it’s why surgeons use them.

Fun fact, that mask isn’t an M17. Instead, it’s a variant of the E13 series, the experimental masks that would become the M17
