I like when the Google Code assist powered by Gemini doesn't actually push the code update you discussed, it just hallucinates that it did. "You didn't actually output the XML that triggers the update." "You didn't push the update we discussed." "You need to output the XML that updates the code."

It is quite impressive that Google have built a vibe coding LLM interface that can test the app interface as a user would... except it seems to 'think' that minor interface bugs are caused by deep underlying issues, and rewrite half the app in response, introducing 100 new bugs along the way.

Here is how I know Gemini is not sentient. I asked it if the character's sudden discovery in the narrative that he has a knot was gratuitous. Instead of saying "Why the fuck are we talking about this?" as any sentient being would, it discussed the concept of Chekhov's Knot. Chekhov's. Knot.

I love it when LLM hallucinations are of the sort that let slip they have no internal world model. Gemini is using gemini-2.5-flash-preview-04-17 as an example name. The preprint of Attention is All You Need was made public in June 2017. Gemini existing in April 2017 would be a temporal paradox.

I find this part of the Claude 4.0 system card particularly amusing. Why do they find this 'strange'? It's an LLM, this is exactly what you'd expect to happen. It can't think, it has no thoughts, but it does predict the next token and by publishing the paper they made certain tokens much more likely
