He's been eager for an opportunity to declare martial law and send in troops to one of his perceived "enemy" cities at least since he started this term. It's unlikely that the protesters who are NOT remaining peaceful will back off, because they are in this for something other than justice.

So something needs to happen sooner. It surely needs to be legal and non-violent, despite the illegal and violent actions of the other side. Trump is panting for a chance to declare martial law. Don't give it to him. Protests, phone calls to Congress, editorials, conversations with neighbors . . .

It's occurred to me, after seeing his hissy-fit when a reporter asked him about TACO, that he'll never get it out of his head. Whenever someone says it in reference to food, he'll think of the other connotation. It's a very small bit of retribution, but it's a start.

He should be encouraged to do what he did for the White House Egg Roll -- find corporate sponsors. I can see it now: a large picture of Mike Lindell next to "My Pillow" painted on the side of an ICBM. Missiles with nuclear warheads provide the sort of safety that lets me sleep at night.

I wonder what Musk's monkeys are getting paid? And then there's the cost of all those golf trips . . .

He hates and fears animals. Not a single pet in the White House or in his many homes before. Are they unacceptably needing love and kindness? Maybe the Presidential Pet could be a tarantula or a hermit crab. Or a stink bug. They don't need any kind of nurturing interaction.

The attacks on education -- from Head Start to universities -- are based on his own dim sense of having no proper education himself. But does he need it -- with an uncle who taught at MIT? These things must enter into our DNA, right?

So how do you 'ROOT OUT CORRUPTION" when you are the source of it?

Yes, thank you, Senator Van Hollen. Some people have suggested that a prisoner swap deal might work: an Orange Stable Genius for Mr. Garcia. Sounds good to me!

Trump doesn't like people with disabilities. Do you remember when he made fun of the reporter? And he didn't want wounded veterans in a public event because "they make me look bad." I wonder how he would handle having a debilitating stroke?

Why would they need research when Trump can change a forecast with a Sharpie?

So I suppose that means a person who has received no tickets for speeding should be fined for speeding. Obviously, they're just doing it where the cops don't catch them.

Thanks for the update. I'll take a run through the ANC site again tomorrow. Let's hope it's all still there.

The comments section at the Arlington website is apparently no longer there. Neither is the "theme" of African-American History available in the Education section: education.arlingtoncemetery.mil/Themes/Afric...

Yes, it's the links that have been removed, apparently, while the information remains available if you search for it. At least, it's still there now. Tomorrow?

It seems that what has been removed is the menu heading "African-American History" from the Notable Graves section. It's still a disgraceful action, but it's not a complete removal. I wonder if someone who was told to do the modifications knowingly did an incomplete job.

Wait -- I've just been to the Arlington website. When I searched for "Tuskegee Airmen" it returned a page of detailed information. Try it: www.arlingtoncemetery.mil/Explore/Nota...

Unfortunately, you can erase knowledge and understanding of the past through this kind of fear-driven action. We have people doing this to curricula at the state and local level as well as in Federal agencies. It won't take more than one or two generations before this is effectively erased.

From "Dr. Strangelove"
"Mr. President, I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed. But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops. Uh, depending on the breaks.”
And what was the quote about being only in charge of the up (referring, I think, to a bomb) but not the down?

I believe that's exactly what Trump and Musk are trying to make happen. Then they will use the military to suppress it.

Speaking as a deeply embarrassed Democrat, I can only agree. They (we) have been cosmically stupid.

Keep in mind that Trump is dying for a thin excuse to declare martial law. Don't be too afraid to protest, but keep the risk in mind. Despite the change at the top, we can hope that the rank and file military will refuse to be used against their own citizens. But it's a hope, not a guarantee.

Why would we expect a president who can't read have any regard for presidential libraries? Maybe a presidential fast food joint would be of more interest to him . . . and his followers.

It's all about running a con. The Kentucky congressperson who got him to make an exception will support him when he needs a puppet again. There's nothing in his life that's not a transaction. And he always gets the bigger piece of the pie.

However, it's true that people get social security who did not pay into it, along with some who collect more than they did pay in. I'm not at all opposed to that. I'd like to see the contribution cap on salary contributions increased. The wealth of some of our richest people is more than obscene.

And why was this 25-year old described as a "kid" who life should not be ruined while Musk's 19-year old is a man who can take over government departments and systems?

And are we going to take their word for it that it's been done as intended. Of course, destruction is their area of expertise.
