Just watched how to make a formula 1 tire at Good Year and I’ll never look at a tire the same again.

To poast or not to poast

There’s really a certain pattern of thought that I’m on sometimes that feels conducive to posting about it.
Specific enough so that I’m actually interested and engaged and it aligns with my offline work, but general enough and related to other stuff in the discourse so that it invites conversation

Like such as:
- working through specific things in apps like Tana
- working through specific nuances in administration/management/human resources
- working though specific ideas in pharmacy practice

I miss posting more regularly in an open place — but it takes a considerable effort to make my thoughts and explorations general enough to feel worthwhile to publish in the central discourse.

Most of the things that fill my head on any regular day are Really Specific things.

Ah, getting it. If multiple people sign up on the same domain (namespace), it forms a sub-network.
Does *this app* allow you to “leave the room”?
That feels more like a Mastodon thing

Is that different that creating a user with your own domain? (What I did).

How do you “leave the room”. I think I get it in principle, but I’m not seeing how that works yet.

I have a deep association between egg cartons and making fires. Growing up with a wood stove those were always saved for that purpose.
Would love to get a place with a wood stove again.

Awesome. I really dig it.
Someday when I’m inspired to dig into some web design again, I’ll likely follow your lead on the vibe.
How do you publish content to it?

It’s been a while since I’ve posted regularly on Twitter — not sure why. Maybe it lost the “small group, well defined topics of exploration” feel it once had for me.
I like the idea of posting regularly here. Probably use it to think through some Tana stuff and an on-ramp.

I’m in. I’ve been really engaging with my Tana for the past month and I’ve noticed a big shift in focus and perspective for the better.
Still working out the kinks, but overall I really like the experience.

Andrew — REALLY beautiful website and a great collection of writings. Bookmarked to explore.
Have you written about the site build anywhere? Is it a template of some sorts?

There's literally a BlueSky Blog that addresses these topics; I've saved a few in my Reader.
Just wanted to spitball on the thoughts before I go forth and drink the Koolaid right from the tap.

What's the deal with this ATProtocol? Will there be other "platforms" developed that support the protocol that I can sign into and boom there are my poasts? That'd be neat. Maybe that's how portability would look?

Surely people will create "algorithm plugins", or "algorithm development assistant" programs to make this easier. Curious to see the rollout here.

How does "algorithmic control" work? How do I adjust my algorithm? That sounds incredibly cool. I'd dabble for sure. Hopefully it would be pretty accessible to tweak the dials...
Lots of pros/cons; I remember a great Your Undivided Attention podcast episode that unpacked this idea a bit.

Does someone "own their own content" on here? Similar to posting on a self-hosted blog vs something like Substack?
How does portability work? Is it real?

Oh that's a neat hack. What do you do with the images? Leave them in your camera roll or dump them somewhere else?

Oh that's good to know. I was mildly annoyed by that.

QT'ing this for fun and to demonstrate utility.
Just above the "Copy as text" seems intuitive as a primary option. And maybe *also* in the Share menu (I feel like other apps have redundancy there) - but I'm not sold on that option.

Or better yet: "Copy URL" directly from the "..." menu.
