Numbering and signing my Merch Market prints for Sunday. Only 100 available. Buy one and @tim-burgess.bsky.social will sign it for you. Come to the Merch Market it’s going to be brilliant! watsn.social/themerchmarket

After a couple months of glorious leisure, I attended an informal interview yesterday and this morning, find myself back in FT work. Good news for the obvious reasons - but I will miss the time and space to do my own thing. My new plan:

Humanists are non-religious people who shape their own lives in the here and now because we believe it's the only life we have. A lot of people share humanist values without even knowing the term. Maybe you're a humanist! Find out by taking our quiz! humanists.uk/humanism/how...

“Bela Lugosi’s head…” #WorldGothDay

After a HUGE number of requests I've managed to twist my dad's arm into getting some postcards of these printed. Get 'em while they're hot! michaelcoxmoredaysthansausages.bigcartel.com

What actor’s expression in a movie will stay with you the rest of your life?

Someone on here (I forget who - sorry!) recommended this the other day; finally got around to watching. If you have a taste for non-commercial sci-fi and a bleak examination of the transitory nature of human existence in the vastness of space, this is for you. Cruel, cold and utterly mesmerising 👌

Muppet a band: Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs in Space

I paused the telly last night to take a picture of this. I am fast approaching my 55th birthday. Infantile, immature and unsophisticated.

Does anyone own a copy of the album Trailor by Ash that is missing the free 7"? Send a pic of yourself holding your copy of the LP, and I'll be happy to pop this on the post. Feel free to repost 🌞

I have a number of Gail’s things in my house; can confirm they bring joy 🙌

I was just thinking the same thing myself

On a beautiful sunny day celebrate with a copy of my e-book Stroll Along the Prom, Prom, Prom available on a pay what you want basis with no minimum charge, Shop at payhip.com/HistoryandHe... 110 pages packed with vintage images of the Yorkshire coast and fascinating sunny nuggets of information.

Cleaning bathrooms to this monster - I’ve just been asked to turn it off because “it’s a lovely day and this is upsetting me.” 🤘 #NowPlaying

My wife has commandeered the house today - 5 of her friends arriving soon for a garden sesh, so I’ve been booted out. Do I go for a wholesome walk, or amble up to the pub to drink beer in the sun?

Heading out to see Stewart Lee with my son tonight. I am bald, have a beard and wear glasses. I realise I have become one of his jokes; insomuch as he does ‘jokes.’

Had a smart meter installed the other day. At what point of smart meter ownership does one feel able to stop switching on an appliance, then looking at the little usage display and shaking one’s head in disgust? (I’m looking at you kettle, you 50p an hour bastard)

As a German I will forever be grateful to all who fought for the liberation of Europe. But as a historian I am looking at front pages today and must wonder: What is the point of remembering #VEDay 80 years on, what is the point of our thanks, when we are failing to protect the sacrifices made? 🧵

You can’t give a baby booze.

Still no payment from my ex-publisher, so I'm selling a few more of these (all purchased from their warehouse). The offer I'm doing is ALL FOUR of these, signed, for the price of the 1983 hardback (£16.99) plus postage. Please email me at [email protected] with your address if you want to nab them.

I am currently facing a vicious onslaught of extreme cuteness #catsofbluesky
