I seriously do not understand why every statement by my congressman sounds even flatter than a “spineless” satirical quote from @theonion.com. I cannot wait to help primary this man. I don’t care if my rep is speaker or if I canvassed with WFP to get him elected the first time in 2012. Do better.

@cmshahanahanif.bsky.social is probably the nicest politician I’ve ever met and these hateful ads by Maya Kornberg’s Uber/Billionaire proxies make me want to vomit. I’m so tired of Islamophobia being a winning tactic for douchebags for 2/3 of my life. I hope District 39 makes the right choice.

Can a #nytimes reporter get to the Brooklyn MDC before Tuesday night so Diddy can endorse Cuomo too? Now that we’re asking every POS from my childhood what they think about NYC…

At least with Iraq the cynics among us could make bad jokes like “looks like we gotta go deliver some DEMOCRACY!” Or something equally f’ed up. There’s no funny outer lining with attacking Iran. Just pure hate and stupidity. There will be no Team America: World Police to help us laugh through it.

I desperately hope we turn the page this week. However, regardless of what happens, the fact that Andrew Cuomo and the establishment of the Democratic Party had to beg Bill f***ing Clinton for help in a mayoral race will never not be funny to me. Get ‘em Zohran. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/22/n...

Thanks to AI, I now understand that part 3 of Ulysses is just “Stephen hangs out on a beach” Am I allowed in the cool smart people book club now?

They even profiled me as a white guy! I got three “scary” defund the police mailers but none of the outrageous antisemitism ones with Hebrew on them.

Another day, another example of Frank Seddio and the Brooklyn Democratic Party throwing all their weight behind an “issue” that affects virtually nobody. Literally anything to keep their jobs and not address housing, education or public transit. #urbanism

“History doesn’t repeat itself, but it rhymes.” Nah, pretty sure it’s the same thing over and over most of the time. As a jaded old millennial at least, it certainly feels that way, even if the academically trained part of me can occasionally come up with alternatives.

My latest — The accusations of antisemitism against NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani have been some of the most appalling smears I’ve seen in my years covering politics. I wrote about the concerted attack, & pressure for American Jews to define a local political race through the lens of Israel:

@tonymelone.bsky.social says it better than anyone else. It is unfortunate that a mayor’s race has become the single biggest referendum on our democracy when so much else is going on. Everyone should do their part so we can finally turn the page. Volunteer, harass your friends. We can do this.
