Could not agree more. Fowler is the future.

1- yes, on Montembeault. Even the HoF goalies let in inexplainable softies. With Monty, they'd snowball since the whole team is so young.
2- holy crap look at the massive gap between Hellebyuck and #2!

I think he’s a good goalie too but my prediction is he won’t be the guy if and when they start competing.

Sure he gives some soft goals, like every goalie does. Is his ability to stop long range shots a problem? I will answer that when the d-men in front of him start boxing out decently.
I don't know either if he's going to be the #1 when the Habs contend. But I think he's a good goalie.

I will never forget Obama on the late night talk shows the week before the 2016 election laughing about Trump.

Maybe local media also looked at the numbers and saw that Monty is 3rd in the league over last two seasons for goals saved above expected, while playing behind one of the worst defense in the league. But yeah, he is indeed a nice guy.

Fair enough Simon-Olivier. But... there's also the eye-test. Are you really going to argue against idea that he lets in soft goals from the blueline too often? Also do you think he will be the No. 1 when Habs are actually trying to contend?

Great point. But the bottomline is great goalies are consistent. Skinner isn't good enough to bring Oilers to Cup, tho he is hardly the only issue. Monty is probably good enuff for the Habs right now but they'll need better in two years.

Is that true? I can't remember.

I don't. I think Monty gets a hometown discount from the local media because he's a nice local boy. He lets in softies way too often. Plays great then lets in a beachball from the blueline. This is not quality goaltending.

I think in front of a good defensive team Montembeault would be fine.

Is the singer still married to Chrissy Hynde?

Oh no, that's ancient history. And the singer has a name. Jim Kerr. ;)

Might've been the difference.

Chose not to sign Holloway and Broberg. Think of how they would have helped.

I vote that the term “prog rock” be renamed “pomp crock”.

Nah Montembeault had the better track record. They could’ve kept both and not bothered with Primeau, I suppose. But he played well enough last season to at least get a chance.

Yeah no biggie either way. Neither is A-list. Fact is Montreal will need a real goalie when they start to compete.

Let's give credit where it is due. Barkov shut McDavid down in a way I haven't seen since Charbonneau shut Gretzky down in 93

They should’ve traded for Jake Allen…
comment in response to

Not actually a joke. Just as Jake Allen would've probably been a good number-one goalie for the Habs this past season.

Couldn't agree more. That was the opposite problem. Fact is Oilers don't need a Price-like goalie. They just need someone who can stop the puck on a consistent basis. I mean this is ridiculous.

Well the Habs had a superstar goalie and almost zero scoring during his career. People weren't fired soon enough
