Similarly, what if polling stations were equipped with selfie booths? I think many more folks would engage through social media if encouraged to take pride in and communicate about what they’re doing, which inspires others to do the same. Voting is an important way for us to take care of each other.

I mentioned it in this interview but it didn’t make the cut: in addition to infringing on Ontarians’ rights under the Environmental Bill of Rights, Bill 5 is also an affront to treaty rights and Indigenous sovereignty. If passed, it will affect people and creatures in international lands and waters.

to reach the end of one’s life and use the final moments to speak truth to power… that is a meaningful way to cement a legacy

Creating new national parks and protecting 30% of lands and waters by 2030 is great, and there's also a whole lot else in this legislation that is urgently needed and not really being talked about during the campaign. There is an opportunity to strengthen the bill before it's reintroduced...

I did extensive research on the topic of structural sources of trash spills in the context of my community (London, Ontario) and compiled outreach resources to support litter prevention: www.antlerriverrally.ca/litter-preve...

This photo of a dumpster is a great example. This is at a multi-unit residential building where the number of units using the bin appears to exceed the minimum volume capacity of the bin given under our local property standards bylaw. No surprise, trash overflows and blows everywhere.

all to say, I cannot recommend highly enough making time for some ecologically-mindful, hands-in-the-dirt work during these tough times. I find it very therapeutic

In other words, climate denialism reflected in economic policy is negligence and financial malpractice. Governments must prioritize 1) immediate, major reductions in GHG emissions and 2) adaptation to limit climate change impacts, which even at 1.5-2Ëš C (in a best case scenario) will be very costly

"To get on track toward 1.5C, global emissions ought to fall 42 percent by 2030, or 28 percent for a pathway to 2C — a message also included in last year’s report, aptly titled “Broken Record.” www.unep.org/interactives...

Reminder: based on current plans and policies for climate mitigation, we are on track to reach 3 degrees of warming by the end of the century – within the next 75 years, possibly earlier. I think it’s a dash and grab. Even the smartest of their opponents are bound to follow processes that take a long time to react and cannot prevent bad actors from committing harm. They realize laws are only effective when enforced, and enforcement is poor, complicated and slow, i.e. not a deterrent

like, it’s not even clear to me how companies are legally required to label when their services involve inputting user data into LLMs. what does regulatory enforcement look like? who owns what the LLMs generate based on inputs that are private property? so many questions need answering
