Keisuke Itagaki also did these covers for a pair of intro to philosophy books.

More Ghibli merch overload. Perhaps I'll forego my curmudgeonliness this time since the the money seems to be going to a good cause.

I love that Bob's Burgers blew up in popularity but I also wish Home Movies would get some of the same popularity.

This is the type of father's day story that warms my heart

For Father's Day I gave my dad a copy of The Hobbit translated into Latin. Just in case you were curious about the particular strain of nerdery in my blood.

This article actually inspired me to finally go to the baklava place in town.

Happy birthday to Studio Ghibli. In these confusing times, it's needed more than ever to provide a place where dreams and nightmares can find their balance. Long may its works endure.

China’s space program took a trip to the far side of the moon. Now, it’s headed for a rendezvous with an asteroid. Plus, an author shares the constellations with low-vision and blind readers. 🌌

Happy flag day

relooted is being made by a team of developers from numerous african countries, but only its white south african creative director was able to demo it to summer game fest attendees. this was most certainly not always the plan

Of course the Chinese government's statements about Reversed Front have only given it increased visibility. www.npr.org/2025/06/11/n...

I would personally prefer a higher budget just 'cause I support reasonable production conditions and not working long hours, but yes, I do think Star Trek loses something if it doesn't have at least a few completely insane clunkers due to writers desperately trying to fill a 26 episode order.

"In Reversed Front's worldview, communists have conquered surrounding lands and formed a mega state, ruling it as a 'colonial power with unprecedented cruelty', and forcing many of the conquered peoples to flee. Decades later, only Taiwan still stands its ground." www.theguardian.com/games/2025/j...

It would probably have to be Axl Rose or Shannon Hoon.

Thank you to @startrekcc.bsky.social for this fun idea! 🖖🏻💚

My University has told us that despite growing ug and grad majors, we are losing a TT history position (not filling line of departing prof). Today they announced they hired a new "chief artificial intelligence strategist." Guess how I feel about this.

One of my PhD qualifying exams was on stuff like this.

Come on, folks, what are we doing here? Literally every aspect of American culture & society in the late 1980s was shot through with anti-Japanese sentiment & hysterical panic about hegemonic rivalry.

As I do quite often, I'm thinking about how exciting it must've been to live in Mystras in the 14th and 15th centuries, especially if you were in any way connected to the arts, or had a government function. People often talk about the decline of Byzantium, but that place was BOOMING.

Short Game is at our distributor and should start shipping next week! (So glad these got on without major delays…looking at Under Ninja 6 which had major freight issues)

For some reason today I've been thinking about the biggest map I've ever done: a full wall mural of Italy and Greece that I drew in my house in Kerrville, TX in 2004. I hadn't been drawing maps; I just got bored. I drew it freehand, looking at a map in a 1950s history book for reference.

'His power–or “tama” in the show’s terminology...' Oh, I hope they don't change this.

I can’t believe that three years after I found that termite nest under my house, there’s still debate about whether to accept the termites. The nest exists. It’s not going away. It’s just growing every day.
