Netanyahu has spent the better part of two decades trying to strong arm the United States into an unprovoked war against Iran and finally found a president stupid enough to do it for him. Unbelievable.

One advantage of Trump putting off a decision on attacking Iran for two weeks is that, in his demented state, there is a high probability he will have forgotten all about it in two weeks.

"The Only Democracy in the Middle East" is arresting protesters for wearing "Stop The War" t-shirts. One officer said the slogan "is something that's illegal to have on a shirt." Gift link www.haaretz.com/israel-news/...

since younger people are asking how shockingly stupid things were in 2003, may I present to you this circa-03 sign that I bought from a local restaurant and their (unrelated) going out of business sale a few years later

Trump created the problem. The single reason Iran was so close to obtaining a nuclear weapon is that Trump destroyed the diplomatic agreement that put major, verifiable constraints on their nuclear program.

It's infuriating how 99% of the coverage of this new war doesn't bother to mention that it is happening because we had an agreement to limit and monitor Iran's nuclear program, which even Trump's own aides said was working, and he blew it up because it was negotiated under Obama.

"I'm sorry, you're right to point out the mistake. I didn't bomb the target you asked for, I bombed something statistically resembling the target you asked for. I'll do better next time!"

Carlos should be spending #Father’sDay with his family. Instead, he has been disappeared to the CECOT mega-prison in El Salvador, with no way for his partner or daughter to contact him. We demand the immediate release of all those disappeared to CECOT. We must #BringThemBack.

The sole criteria I will be voting on in the 2028 primary is which candidate credibly promises to put the largest number of Trump officials in prison. I do not care about any of their other policies.

kind of just endlessly sad and grieving that there are so few voices in the public sphere making the basic principled argument that immigration is an affirmative good in every way and the best way for this country to serve humanity is to welcome people who want or need to leave their homes

PhD STEM enrollment is basically a linear function of federal research funding anyway. Their proposed savage cuts reveal the lie.

In my PhD class in 2009, the admission rate for domestic students was about 50% and for international students was about 10%. It's an imperfect metric, but they were clearly giving us domestic students a leg up already.

Those motherfuckers.

Most industrial heat is from fossil fuels with only 4% electrified. A missed opportunity: The potential for industrial electrification exceeds 90% but most people don't know that.

I can't top this one.

It was one month ago (tomorrow) that US Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that Trump admin needed to 'facilitate' return of K Abrego Garcia from prison in El Salvador. There he sits.

"Masked security forces captured an opposition leader in the coastal province of New Jersey as regime officials continue their months-long crack-down against pro-democracy elements in the embattled United States. The arrest comes as the regime issued calls for summary detentions without trial."

Love to see this. Was too expensive to add 200A service so it drove the decision to use a more advanced, load-reactive EV charger. We really don't need 200A upgrades for electrification folks! 🔌💡

Now we need the industrial and commercial equivalent of this.

Narrator: “They were wrong.” Microsoft drops a law firm that appeased Trump, hires firm that’s fighting Trump Law firms that struck deals with the White House thought it’d protect their bottom line. What if their assumptions were wrong? www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

I spent a lot of happy hours in DC arguing that the idea that industry was "hard to decarbonize" was driven in part by folks misreading the modeling. A 🧵 1/8

Remarkable from WaPo poll: Trump sinking fast on immigration among independents. 56% disapprove of handling of issue 62% oppose removing foreign students 52% oppose renditions to El Salvador Only 21% want Abrego Garcia left there Engage, Dems. New piece from me: newrepublic.com/article/1944...

Nixon wasn't jailed for Watergate. Reagan wasn't jailed for Iran Contra. W wasn't jailed for torture and invasion. Trump wasn't jailed for attempted coup. Republicans crimes will continue to escalate until they face real consequences.

It's pretty wild, when you think about it, that the political press spent four years saying "Biden's real test: will Americans approve of his economy?" and then Trump's been president for three months and he's brutally murdering the economy and the political press is just not that focused on it

Faculty are stagnant dinosaurs, graduate students vile hubristic children. Thank god for postdocs, the light in the darkness and sole source of all worthwhile scientific inquiry.

Dear Dems: Polling shows only *generalized* approval of Trump on immigration, but broad opposition to the lawless specifics. If you don't engage on Abrego Garcia and other illegal kidnappings, you only *help* Trump subsume all that under "keeping out illegals." newrepublic.com/article/1941...

Q: "How do you respond to Governor Newsom?" Sen. Van Hollen: "I think Americans are tired of elected officials or politicians who are all finger to the wind...Anybody who can't stand up for the Constitution and the right of due process doesn't deserve to lead."

Another story of 1. Admin sends fascist order 2. Media reports on it 3. People are outraged, say no 4. Admin says “actually that order was a mistake” Lesson is defy fascist orders kslnewsradio.com/shows-podcas...

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

this is such good news. i think it is also an opportunity for democrats to state forthrightly that when they win power again everyone responsible for this crime will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law and will face the american people to answer for their lawlessness

I, for one, think the median congressional Democrat should be to the left of David Brooks. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/17/o...
