Hopped on bikes right after breakfast and only popped in for lunch before heading out again. We once flagged down a helicopter just to see if we could (80s kid shit).

I am sorry. That truly sucks.

Living in Phoenix in the summer, this is not recommended.

I took one class at a time, but even then I had to multitask to an excessive degree. Like, reading and typing on my lunch hour and even working in the car while the hubs drove.

There were condescending people at Princeton when I attended (like a friend’s boyfriend who sneered at the idea of paperbacks on a home bookshelf), but the rest of us thought they were pretentious assholes.

While I have been to theater performances with nudity (both in and out of college), those should be choices made by the performers. A professor should not suggest or encourage nudity. It’s a violation of power and authority.

Nope. (God forbid) If I lost my husband I think I would have to get a third dog and call it a day. I don’t think I have what it takes to go back into the dating scene. I am so lucky to have someone whose geek matches mine.

You had the perfect opportunity to call it a Momma and Papa shop and you let it blow right past you.

I was a theater kid and huge book nerd in HS. I became a distance runner in my 30s and a decently competitive masters runner in my 40s and now 50s. I am happy my former HS PE coach (who just retired last year and worked with me as a teacher for 27 years) got to see me finally become an athlete.

We call Luna “Luna Fox” because of her ears and her golden retriever sister Lily “Lily Beary” because she’s so floofy. But when I first married my husband I had a cat named Tess whose full name was “Tessie Wessie Moomers Kitty Whittums.”

I have had several of the AI conversations this year. Thankfully, every student copped to it and redid the essay in class with me. But it is a real problem.

I am really stepping back from some of my technology next year. I am doing more in-class timed writing and more hand-written work. It’s a lot, I know, but it’s necessary. I keep telling the kids if they outsource their thinking, why shouldn’t employers just hire the computer?

That actually happened once in front of my students when we were in the computer lab and an adult instructional assistant and the tech guy got in a fist fight. It was…not good.

There is something that is really artificial about official observations. As someone finishing year 28, I think I might be a little more cynical about them, though.

There is really no reason other than laziness to outsource writing feedback to AI. The kids know who is putting in the work and who isn’t (in terms of teachers), and it shows.

You may not teach conventionally, but you don’t fall out of the habit of teaching just because you aren’t in a classroom. On to new adventures!

Protest signs are definitely appropriate in these days. Wouldn’t bother me.
