You can see the ridership numbers in the screenshot in the original post! (And go to the source dashboard here to compare the figures for the other stations: www.wmata.com/initiatives/...).

Isn’t that compatible with the “pretending to be a man” story?
Of course, no amount of that pretending requires having a *Gab* account; that seems plenty of problem in its own right.

This is absolutely an AI generated photo though, right? (Asymmetry in the ears)

Yeah definitely seeing that! I’m trying to get a sense of who else might have the profile or leverage to better force a change for the City at least.

The correct commit message etiquette is:
First commit in repo: “init”
Second commit: “fix”
Every subsequent commit: “actually fix”

Mild update: taking a Coursera course on #Snowflake, which seems like it pairs well with the starter credits that come with a free trial account on basic Snowflake. The fact that they have robust pre-built example data to play with is also a good sign. Cautiously optimistic….

Oof, too real. I’ve gone through like 6 years in a row now of *using* Docker and *almost* understanding it, but never in any way I could pass a 101 test on it!

I find myself watching a lot of explainer YouTube videos or even looking through Coursera courses. It’s not bad for getting the gist, but it doesn’t stick in the same way as things I really get to try and build.

For example, if I knew how to do a bunch of things in AWS, what’s the best way to understand the practical differences with the Azure equivalent? Or get to know how some provider-specific offering is useful enough that I should consider making the switch?

Fair point! Yes I’m thinking more of the scale of data science, engineering, and reporting workflows that can’t run on my machine alone. Managed database services, hosted dashboards, MLOps, that kind of thing.

Or at least, what jobs have the most similar level of satisfaction of building/problem solving that comes from that kind of game?
Bonus points if you can think of something as satisfying as Civ—“immortal absolute leader of an entire population” hard to find on LinkedIn.

I know the dates don’t quite line up for it, but I’m choosing to believe this is a Hans Rosling reincarnation scenario.

Some days you just need to have three functions that all take a df and also return a df (but slightly different structure dfs each time so you have to call them in the exact right order).
