Men are too emotional to use social media

proof i know how to code

“As technologists, we are workers first. We cannot individually stop the machine of capitalism from exploiting our labor, and, while this tide will shift, many of us are too romanced by the technofuturist dream of LLMs […] to easily reconsider our adoption of it.” — @strange.website

We've got availability at Set Studio this summer! We're wrapping up some great work which we can't wait to show you, but for now check out some of the stuff we've achieved 👇 If you've got a project idea cooking, we'd love to hear it. set.studio or hit me up with [email protected]

put some thoughts together on the LLM trend and its implications for labor rights. there's a lot to be said about the lofty claims of pro-LLM technologists, but this presumes their promises of efficiency, etc. are true. henry.codes/writing/econ...

zooming out a little bit, it does feel alarming to me that a lot of people whose stated politics are progressive or socialist or both are willing to give huge tech companies an easy ride for fully seizing the means of production for everyone, no matter where you personally work

what's the biggest strength you're brining to the Web Dev Challenge? with @jzhao.xyz and @strange.website watch the full episode: codetv.link/wdc/s2e4

that fly .io article has my blood boiling this morning. “Also: let’s stop kidding ourselves about how good our human first cuts really are.” if your entire argument is to cut humans out of the equation and *especially* juniors, we’re not even in the same realm of understanding to have a discourse

“for the public merely wanted all the conveniences of modern life without the guilt of knowing how those conveniences were procured.” - Babel, R.F Kuang

“Success is a matter of community” Robb absolutely nailed it with this one. Brings me hope that we can continue to carve out spaces for ourselves where the craft and the ethics do matter. It has happened before, and it will happen again, and we will still be here.

fucking fantastic day filming web dev challenge with @codetv.dev i am exhausted and invigorated and inspired and simply love connecting with cool folks in cool places ◡̈

no room for react developers in the Kingdom of Heaven

when I think about LLM training data I think about aaron swartz being arrested by the secret service for the unauthorised download of academic documents resulting in collective felony charges carrying a max penalty of $1 million and 50 years in prison and so took his life, alone, in his apartment

folks i am on my way to portland for a top secret little coding adventure. delighted to say - watch this space 👀

supposedly @whitep4nth3r.com and @danielroe.dev were a team on Web Dev Challenge, but... well, just watch watch the full episode: codetv.link/wdc/s2e4

work is its own cure. you have to like it better than being loved. "for the young who want to", by marge piercy #poetry #poetrysky

Luddites weren't anti-tech. They were against technology being used by the capitalist class to capture wealth at the expense of the worker. I am a Luddite, and a tech enthusiast. They're not in opposition. I want technology that makes MY life better, not that sells my life piecemeal to corps.
