They certainly have their use, and hey, if they help encourage 15-minute neighborhoods, I'm all for it! I just don't think they're appropriate for, say, Kingshighway (mostly because of the crazy vehicle drivers — just too much a risk in my book.)

Actually, I seem to recall that a bill had been filed a session or two before my election, and Vollmer had vehemently opposed it. I'd have to go back and find the bill and any committee hearings, however. Several Alders use the carts themselves, including for campaigns.

I had planned to introduce a bill to lower the speed threshold (if I recall correctly, Kingshighway is technically still fair game, which is wild to me) but I was afraid that Vollmer would beat me up. More seriously, I got massive pushback from colleagues and never filed it.

I won't lie, hearing the emergency alerts slowly spread across the parking lot while I was loading my car with supplies for a shelter was intense in a way that wasn't prepared for. It wasn't until I got home and started to unwind that it hit me.

Likewise. We have thousands of structurally compromised buildings, many of which still have residents. It wouldn't even have to be a tornado — straight line winds could be sufficient to cause collapses.

I appreciate you, Brandon!! Thanks for the photo and heads-up about Monica's article. I've been so out of the loop, I had no idea. Thank you!

Have you seen it?? I was debating running by tomorrow morning, since it's about a mile from the Urban League HQ.

Man, this is just so heartbreaking as someone who has been on the ground with the Red Cross since the day after the tornadoes.

I'm just pleased whenever we engage, Brooke! But, I agree.

It's such a weird move in my opinion. Like, what's the beef with fluoride, other than the conspiracy theories?

That Jo Dee Messina album was and continues to be everything

I'm so glad you were able to attend! I'm currently deployed with the Red Cross so I missed it, but I plan to watch the recording. Terribly glad you enjoyed it :)
