So proud of my little town of Kent, Ohio. The scene of unimaginable government violence in 1970 when National Guard troops fired on students protesting the war in Vietnam killing four. Today far more people turned out for No Kings than I ever expected! Well done, Kent!!

I just posted some praise for Sly and the Family Stone. In one of the oddest coincidences I've ever seen, my favorite band, Yes, owes a debt of gratitude to SFS. Sly was supposed to play a gig in 1968 in London. They didn't show up. With a full hall and no band the panicked venue manager called up

Been going down a Sly and the Family Stone rabbit hole since I learned yesterday that Sly Stone has passed away. The band was both multiracial and had male and female musicians (not just background singers) - a rare thing indeed in the late 60s. music.youtube.com/watch?v=TU02...
