After a couple of years, though, the comments evolved. The insults got overwhelmed by conversation about what a smart, funny and awesome Latin teacher Tim Russell is. So, yay awesomeness. youtu.be/jkPk8UK1p4s?...

I got two copies of his 2003 historical novel “The Hornet’s Nest“ autographed (in a line with hundreds of others). I kept a copy and gave one to my dad, an admirer who is also 100 this year. Not a literary classic, but tells more about the dynamics of the Revolutionary War than any history text.

More directly to your question, though, I think a longer regular season would mainly appeal to baseball purists, but especially toward the end of the season would be a huge drag on attendance and viewership for the teams with no chance to get to the Series. And there would be lots more of those.

I think this is a hazardous idea but not for the obvious reasons. With a regular season that long, some marketing Einstein is bound to follow the NBA’s lead and turn June into some kind of pointless MLB Cup tournament.
