Sounds like her 9yo either has a medical condition that should get checked out.. or she can't stand her kid and justifies getting them into bed at a totally unreasonable hour by saying he needs his sleep.

I have two little kids. Its raining. Im drained & couldn't figure out logistics. But we drove down the nearest protest route and gave lots of little solidarity honks and it was uplifting to see how many showed up in the rain. Plus my 6yo got to read lots of bad words on signs and that made his day.

And if I take it when my anxiety isn't that high, then I just get really sleepy. So I really only have the desire to take it when I actually need it. I haven't felt addicted or needed to up the dose and it's just been like .. medicine?

I'm glad you found a doctor that actually cares about you as a human and not just a baby machine. I was afraid to take benzos and assumed I'd get addicted. Tried 5 other things before benzos. A low dose of Klonopin has really helped keep me from spiraling during the hard times.

Having decent healthcare is tied to our jobs for a reason.. so we can't cause too much trouble.
Living paycheck to paycheck with no universal healthcare and few social safety nets makes it pretty risky to go to public demonstrations on work days.

Many of us are skilled but stuck at home/have unfulfilling jobs because of childcare expenses! We are tired, looking for meaning, and easy to take advantage of! Use that for the common good! Stroke our egos & feed our brats! We'll support the revolution!

Make wine mom liberals kids feel welcome & looked out for at organizing & demonstration events and good shit will happen. As a gin mom liberal who is both fucking terrified by everything going on AND exhausted by parenting, I would to find community that factors in caregiving so I can contribute.

I really wish I didn't need to be legitimately concerned about a group called "bleachers" who advocate for... bleach... being able to influence our national public health policy & research funding priorities 😫

"the anxious generation" by Jonathan Haidt drilled home two points in my mind regarding how most kids are raised now: oversurveillance in 'real life' and undersurveillance in the virtual world.

My oldest turned 1 right before the world shut down. We waited to have our 2nd kid until vaccines were available for both adults and kids. I'm not as afraid for their safety or mine now, but it really sucks if we can't get vaccinated to protect the more vulnerable people we love (GRANDPARENTS!)

If everyone had access to a good education, Republicans would never win again. Absolutely terrifying for them..

Read your skeet with no context (other than knowing brainworm Bobby's love of carcasses) and laughed. Then saw the photo and almost woke my toddler up.

I worked in Haiti during my first job out of college. The sight of little school kids dotting the mountainsides for miles to get their vaccines is burned into my brain. Booking COVID vaccines for my kids has been in a pain in the ass, but pretty minor inconvenience. Perspective is helpful.

I agree with you. But does this logic apply to the Shingles and RSV vaccines too? Aren't they also restricted by age/pre-existing conditions? (Serious Q by someone who makes sure myself and my family is fully vaccinated)

My sister got worked up once because all the words for calling someone 'not that bright' are now considered offensive. But you can't always be nice, and sometimes you need to point out when someone is kinda stupid.

Classically stupid. I like that.

We took my 6yo to the mint in Philly and you can look through windows at coins being made. Windows were too high for kid to look through, no steps, and signs telling you not to let your kid sit on the window ledge. But like... My fucking arms were tired holding up my 6yo. He sat on the ledge.

Wow yes! I'd love the ability to go socialize somewhere WITH my kids but just know someone else is responsible for them so I can have an uninterrupted adult conversation without the "oh crap, who's watching the toddler" thought and have to run away. Seems like dudes have this unspoken privilege.

The new Pope didn't tweet once in 2024. In 2025, he's posted 5 times, in which he:
- Criticized JD Vance's views on Catholicism and Jesus
- Posted an article opposing Trump's immigration policies
- Retweeted twice about the Pope's health
- Retweeted a criticism of Trump & Bukele's laughter at KAG.

Is this a pity pope? Americans can't have a functioning democracy, science, food safety, healthcare, childcare, etc etc etc so they gave us an American pope?

Sonic... seriously. It would have been excellent with the combo of middle + last name. I would have done it if the damn hedgehog weren't still so popular. And if the only thing I could find online about the name wasn't that the king of Norway refused to let a 6yo change his name to Sonic.

And I told my 5yo at one point that bathroom words were for the bathroom. Soon after I found this scribbled on the bathroom wall.

I was drawing on my dresser with white out and a kid and realized my parents would be pissed, so I changed it to say "I love Mom and Dad". It worked. They didn't know how to react!

Pretty sure my kids are alive and well because of the magic dust they sprinkle in cheerios.
