Hot take, but school shootings aren't going to get solved. The power-that-be* love the division and anger they bring as a response(gun regulation debate being an example). And they love using it as an election issue, so if it was solved, their be nothing to campaign on.

Apart of being a better parent than my parents were to me, starts now before I even try to have a family. I set those standards now and hold to them. And I will.

For them. They're the same kid, just a different way of presenting themself to the world and hopefully a happier internal life. If anything, I would more fiercely love them so I can be their rock and a better ally to them. I'm gonna be a better parent to my kids than my parents were to me.
