If they changed their mind, I'm happy to volunteer as tribute.

@scott.cannonstats.com re min 3, for me a trap isnt a trap if you dont care about walking into it.

Great listen, and if you don't mind me saying after a year of pods (congratulations!) your hosting skills have become so clean now. I might be wrong, but I'm sure it was vs Shakhtar D than Calafiori had his slip and knee turn, like last week. Unless there have been 3 unfortunate events..

I'm fairly confident the same Liverpool fans discussed VVD's injury the season they dropped ~30 points on their previous year's total.

Rational logic tells me the last 10 mins were great, so start Merino today and we win 18-0.

I'd rather have one that has played football before

If it's not too late for a question, does this result plus Newcastle's recent home form inject some optimism ahead of Wednesday? Still a difficult task, but perhaps not the lost cause many of us had it written off as? #arsecastextra

They have semi automated offside.

Well darn
comment in response to post
Do we know it's an injury? Would not be surprised at all to hear it's an enforced rest from Arteta. Just turned 18 and playing all the minutes..

Cheers, will give it a try

Depends what subreddits you visit. In my experience the vast majority of mainstream subs are more centre left / left for sure.

Any episode/period of time recommendations?

More than decent

Presumably those hard of hearing will have subtitles on, as they would already to follow the match commentary.

Oh and my personal 3rd, it's my second day back at work in the new year, felt a bit cheeky taking a early finish so soon!

1. And it's just after xmas. People have just spent a lot of money and can't afford to go to every game. 2. It's on terrestrial (free) TV in the UK.

I'll have to lean on the Wise One's word as to how it wasnt even a free kick.

With hindsight, would have been nice to give him some minutes v Ipswich. Very rusty so far

Not really, a camera is going to be more accurate more often. Just need to speed up the process which is painfully slow.

I would have accepted 'from aces to laces.'

Torn on this one. There's luck in the league fixture draw, and arguably they should do something to make it worthwhile finishing higher than just the flat top 8 / next 16. Then again a random draw post league helps equalise those who got an easier fixture list from those that had a harder one.

Football players world wide hitting their forehead saying "why didn't I think of that"

Reminds me of the Jorge sub at 45 in the last CL home game. No way Arteta risks going down to 10 men 2nd half.

Goals are overrated. Replace goals with xg: best xg wins.

Can I ask which game this was? I agree btw

I dont think it can work in practice the way you would like, unfortunately. Just because offside isnt subjective, like a call for a marginal foul. It's literally measurable, like goal line decisions. It's a choice between wanting faster var (begging for semi auto to come in, personally) or get rid.
comment in response to post
The alternative is to do away with VAR altogether. You can make a good case for that if you're willing to trade mistakes for immediacy. Fine, but maybe that means Garnacho's winner at the Emirates last season costs us the title. But once VAR is in use, 'at a glance' just isnt compatible.
comment in response to post
Please see my first point, var needs to be quicker. If its quick enough not to suck the joy out of things then noone will care that it's "too accurate." What I dont think you're getting is "at a glance" still has a (now poorly defined) boundary, so you're just asking var to check a different line.
comment in response to post
You don't gain anything by doing this, you've just established a new boundary by a couple of inches.
comment in response to post
The call just needs to be faster, much faster. Unfortunately whatever form of offside law you want, there will always be a line between on and off, and so there will always be a time you are a mm ahead of it and offside. Want a grace distance? Then sometimes a player is 1mm ahead of that etc etc

It's probably difficult enough scheduling PL and WSL fixtures (including logistics such as police) without trying to perfectly balance the leagues around eachother as well. There should be exceptions, but zero clashes across every team, every week?
comment in response to post
Also, just seen on twitter in their 6 away games they have played the teams 17th-20th..
comment in response to post
I think it's far from insurmountable. Liverpool go to Newcastle Wed and then away derby (haha ok). Point is, leads can disappear very quickly..
comment in response to post
There's a very long way to go.

Bought this 2 years ago, went from grumbling about the price (tight bastard) to realising just how great it was.

This was my thought as well. You can see a world where he loses it with Saka

Crap like this is why I unfollowed this account. Unfortunately someone else had to repost it onto my TL. Sort yourself out Politics UK and stick to posting actual news, there is enough of it out there.

FWIW the reasons Perry gave back then include same obstacles people mention today: Council, residents, traffic etc. The difference is 20 years ago this was widely considered to be too big a series of issues, when permisssion for the original stadium build was so hard fought for.
comment in response to post
I'm no expert on the legal process, but presumably it's not just the council, it's the local residents as well that have to be brought on side (to some degree?)
comment in response to post
I mean, that was very disrespectful. Putting to one side how much or little you think Perry knows, I would at least think that the club's briefing would include an answer to a FAQ about the new stadium so obvious it was asked by a teenager.

On 42' or thereabouts, please tell me "chicken is where the big bucks are" was on purpose.

Interesting, when I did an Emirates tour around the same time with Perry Groves, I asked him about future expansion and he categorically, unequivocally ruled it out as a viable option.

The history pods have been genuinely excellent, looking forward to the next one.
