Immigration attorney/advocate. Open borders. Defund the police. No political party will save you. A better world is possible. Excuse the typos. I’m angry.

Fetterman can't stop another senator from objecting to the unanimous consent agreements that keep the body running.
Any Democratic senator could wake up this morning and decide to be a giant pain the ass to the point where Republicans would have to repeatedly overrule them

@flynorse.com THIS woman would like a resolution to her problem with her flight but you only give her the option to chat with a bot or an unresponsive email address.

@flynorse.com How do I get my problem with your airline resolved when my only options are a bot and an email address where the only response is a list of generic information?

Hey @flynorse.com. I have been trying to contact a real person about my urgent issue with my flight but my only options are a bot and an email address that goes unanswered. Folks, I don't recommend you use this carrier b/c they don't even have a phone number to call if you have a problem.

Yeah. Don’t count on that. Like, at all.

Is this post addressed to ICE, LAPD, and the National Guard? They're the only ones I see being violent.

People, raise your voice. Call your representatives. Take to the fucking streets, share this thread. Don't let Albert and the others be forgotten. END

Albert's aunt recently told me:
"Este fin de semana visitamos a los niños. Creen que el teléfono de su padre se dañó y por eso ya no le hablan."
"This weekend we visited the children. They believe that their father's phone was damaged and that is why they have not spoken to him anymore."

Now that Kilmar Abrego Gonzalez has been returned to the U.S., we all know (as we suspected) that the Trump regime's claims that they could not return these men were lies. Over 200 men, like Albert, remain there. They cannot be forgotten.

A few weeks ago, creepy Matt Gaetz took a sadistic walk through CECOT passed the cells of the men who had been disappeared there. The men made the hand signals for freedom and called out for help. Albert's aunt recognized Albert in one of the photos. He is shirtless, thin, and asking for freedom.

Albert's family had retained an attorney to represent him. When she asked the judge which court would have jurisdiction now that "the client is in El Salvador," the judge replied: "Beats me."
"Beats me."
Let that sink in.

Albert had another court hearing scheduled for March 24, 2024. He couldn’t appear, of course, because he’d been renditioned to CECOT. At that hearing DHS asked the judge to dismiss his case. The judge did so, without question or discussion.

“Okay, since I was told to file my asylum with USCIS and also to file in my TPS application, and I did all that. That's why I was so confused.”
One month later, he was disappeared to El Salvador.

But the real gut punch came when I was provided access to the transcripts of Albert's court proceedings. It shows that Albert entered through the CBPOne app - a legal form of entry. He timely filed his asylum app. In other words, he did everything "the right way."

After a few weeks, I was able to find and contact Albert's aunt in Venezuela. She shared pictures. She spoke about Albert's reasons for fleeing his country and about his love for his children, who he had to leave behind. She told me:

to support them. Of course, he was accused of being a member of TdA, with nothing to support that claim beyond that he has some harmless tattoos, none of which match the generic photos DHS submitted as "evidence."

not much to go on. Little by little, however, Albert became real to me. First, I saw his name on the list that @cbsnews.com released of those sent to CECOT. Later, I was given access to the "evidence" that DHS had filed against him. "Evidence" in quotes b/c it was vague allegations and nothing...

I'd seen all the photos and stories of these men and was sickened to think they might spend the rest of their days in that hell-hole. It's both a blessing and a curse to be an immigration attorney in these godforsaken times in this country.

About two months ago, a colleague put out a call asking if any attorney would be willing to file an appeal on behalf of a man who was detained at CECOT and whose deadline for appeal was fast approaching. I said yes.
