Probably, in the trainig datasets, the behaviour of giving better answers when asked politely is a pattern. In that case, LLMs could learn that pattern in the training phase.

At this point, announcing higher tariffs on China is just attention whoring.

True story: when I first meet my wife and I found powdered garlic in her kitchen, the first thing I said was "This is a motive for separation".

I'm not a great economist but, the 125% to China is not worse than all the other tariffs together? If I'm not wrong they are US main suppliers of raw materials and components.

The fact is that most analysts agree that it makes no sense either in form or substance, so I can only think of two things: either he is a genius and knows something that the rest of the planet doesn't know, or he acts like a chimpanzee with a Kalashnikov. I'm betting on the second one.

Let me understand this: US last year bought $440bn to China with 20% average tariffs. Now, the same will cost an 84% more for the US, let's say, $800bn and that's good?

Actually, it's more profitable not selling to the US (EU citizen talking).

You are right, but the damage is already done. Trust cannot rely on the caprices of an individual, it must be moron proof.

Most paywalls can be avoided by disabling javascript in your browser. It's easy to find out how just searching in google. Others can be avoided by getting the source code of the webpage (also google it) and passing the full html to an AI to extract the text and discarding the html/JS code.

Just asked Sonnet for 2025 economic forecast in the US according to Trump electoral promises... nailed it. As far as GPUs, it's prediction is 10-25% more expensive and less availability in the US due to changes in sales, preferably rerouted to other places without tariffs.

Maybe some will do, all depends on the profitability of that operation. The world is very big, I think that most will consider that looking for new markets is much better than relocating.

Just a suggestion: what if instead of retaliating with tariffs on US imports we refuse to sell them our services & goods? By imposing a tax on EU exports to the US, maybe?

Right now, yes but they (it) are close. Just having a philosophical chat with claude about conciousness of self existence and it hanged out, but it was very lose before hanging (and I'm some kind of LLM expert so I know how it works and what it is made of). I like this guy.

Thanks for sharing! Funny thing is that a simple dataset of Q&A can be converted to a reasoning dataset of this kind using LIMO dataset from their github repository as example to fine tune a base model with LoRA. Will be my next experiment when I finish the other thousand that I have in mind XD

That's for sure! (all that you said). You will be very welcome, if you freely chose to. Just pointing out that it will be difficult, but we can overcome this, wouldn't be our first time. And sure, if they want to be alone, the best and most respectful thing we can do is to leave them alone XD

I'm European and I'd be glad if someday Canada chose to join EU, but think that this mad guy also screwed us: we were relatively well, now we have to spend huge amounts of money not only on defence, but on everything we were allied with the US on because they are not reliable partners anymore.
