The Council of Economic Advisers is an internal White House organization whose members are appointed by the President. They are not an independent analysis group.

He's leading by default. Every other major GOP candidate (DeSantis, Abbot, Cruz, Rubio, Grumpy, Dopey, Sleezy) have shot themselves in the foot on national stages. None of them have the MAGA cult behind them. The key is to get Democratic control of Congress to limit the damage in 27/28.

Her religious freedom isn't under attack. She is free to worship as she pleases. The only thing that is being attacked is her insistence that everyone follow her ridiculous religion and spout gibberish pretending to speak in tongues.

Everything they do is geared toward hurting the bottom 75% of the population.

No Kevin, I voted for Harris. If I recall correctly, you did vote for this though...

I notice she's no longer wearing the cross necklace when doing press conferences. Perhaps it was beginning to burn.

Why is he wearing a law enforcement uniform? He was a lawyer before he went into politics. What is it with the GOP and cosplay?

We can also post images with fake explanations. Here is James Woods threatening a peaceful homeowner.

Be careful Governor Walz -- California is currently being invaded by the US military because we were practicing democracy and freedom of speech.

Well, everyone can play the game of mislabeled photos. Here's a picture of a Marine tank shooting into civilian homes in LA...

I recognize Simone Biles. Not sure who the blonde girl is -- has she accomplished anything notable that anyone outside her immediate family would actually know about?
comment in response to post
Yes, Mark, you're right. Those of us who love democracy and freedom need to be more polite and stop fighting against the fascist-wannabes that have illegally deployed troops against citizens who were peacefully protesting. "Excuse me sir, would you mind moving your tank out of my flower bed?"

The bromance is over. Which one will be the first to turn state's evidence on the other?

"private industry layoffs that target middle management bloat" Middle management bloat is due to the strict pay bands company HR have implemented. Either you get promoted or you salary caps out and stagnates. Then the CEO blindly cuts people who spent 20 years making the company successful.

I wonder if they used an AI to write the report. AI is notorious in the scientific community for inventing references that look OK but are completely spurious.

We're sorry, the number you are calling has been disconnected or is no longer in service.

The graphic is wrong. It says the private sector surplus is in "your and my bank account." But it isn't in _our_ banks, it is in the bank accounts of Musk, Bezos and the other top 10% who hold over 2/3 of the wealth we have generated as a country. And they aren't spending it. So yeah, no demand.

Bypassing the middlemen of the pharmaceutical companies probably saved at least that much money. For profit health is a scam.

Public vs for-profit health. "The US government invested at least $31.9bn to develop, produce, and purchase mRNA covid-19 vaccines ... estimated to have collectively prevented 20 million deaths globally, including preventing 1.1 million deaths in the US." pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

How humiliating. These are supposed to be the brain trust leading our country, and they're told to go sit quietly away from the adults. "You kids go sit over there while Dad takes care of some business."

"Smart people" as defined by the people on Dunning-Kruger's "Mount Stupid" -- stupid people who are too profoundly stupid to realize they're really not smart people.

It's true, most of us won't have to pay taxes. When the economy craters completely and everyone loses their jobs in the subsequent depression, no one will have income to pay taxes on.

His inner circle knows it too. They just ignore the facts and show loyalty because the MAGAt base adores their orange demagogue, and because they're able to profit from it.

Damn. No wonder the poor kid isn't getting drafted.

Using the US flag as a handkerchief in his jacket pocket is so on message for MAGAts -- they seem to have no idea of how to respectfully treat the flag.

Sounds like an area of expertise for you, as opposed to my surface knowledge. I'm curious -- Have you read Dan Simmons's "Drood", and if so what is your opinion?

"As Told by Charles DIckens"?! Dickens was Anglican, rejected Evangelicals and their conviction the Bible was the infallible word of God. I'm not sure he would approve...

No one outside the 1% does. Rollback of financial laws since the 1980s set us up for this. It started small with allowing companies to embroil us in the stock market with 401(K)s rather than company retirement plans. Now it culminates in the unfettered rape of our finances for the wealthy.

So what are the odds that everyone in the Trump administration shorted a bunch of stocks right before the tariffs announcement yanked the rug out from under the market?

Jaded from watching my friends and former colleagues standing in lines to see if their badges worked in order to find out if they were fired? Maybe. Glad you were inspired. Gald you decided finally to fight the good fight. But I want to see more than words.

All the white nationalists & supremacists are being excited by the raised "White Power fist", which they appropriated from the Black Power fist, and which was originally used by the Socialist parties as an antithesis to the Roman salute of the fascist parties. Symbolism manipulation at its finest.

I'm in the minority here, but what was accomplished? No legislation was blocked, Trump's tariffs are still on, Musk shut down the CDC, and they're drawing up plans to invade Greenland. The Greene-Luna spat that shut the House down early today did more for us than Booker's marathon speech.
