I miss that man. He was as funny as he was sweet.

My daddy always said, some people have to learn the hard way.

I used to work doing that. It is still magic to me that in only 4 hours, that arena will be empty and all that equipment will be in trucks, on their way to the next location, just to start setting up again at 6 am.

I think it’s all relative. In my home state I’m considered a crazy liberal. When I lived in Seattle most people considered me a conservative.

Now that is interesting. 🤔

I absolutely hate alarm clocks. But I have a couple of smart lights that wake me up in the morning instead. And around Christmas it’s magical pulling into my driveway and seeing the lights turn on. But that’s about as far as I go.

No. That’s been a work in progress since the 1950s. It really ramped up pretty quickly though since the 80s.

You’re not only an educator but have changed the way many of us think about things, like heat pumps, electric vehicles, etc. You’re actually improving other people‘s lives. And you’re one of the few people on the internet who has convinced me to buy something. I love my can opener btw! 😂

I know too many people like this. They believe with every fiber of their being, that if it doesn’t make a profit, it should not exist.
Sadly, that includes people! If granny isn’t making a profit, and doesn’t have enough money to live off of, they don’t deserve to live. Makes me sick. 🤢

I think of this every time I hear “Callin’ Baton Rouge”. It doesn’t make sense to anyone born after cell phones became popular.

Yup. Born on the bayou, raised on rice and gravy. You’d think learning about the Grand Dérangement and my ancestors being expelled from Nova Scotia would have made my ideas of Canada click, but no. I thought Nova Scotia was just like, northern Maine or something.

I was like, “No. No way.” Pulled out a map and 🤯.
I love maps and geography. How did I not know this!

Thanks to my public education I thought Canada was a frozen, barren, wasteland until college. I was shocked to learn Toronto is further south than Seattle! 🤦♂️

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. If things go horribly wrong, we will eventually have to rebuild, and hopefully we would rebuild better.
In the meantime however… Well let’s just say the period after the French Revolution was not known as The Reign of Enlightenment.

A large group of people in this country believe if something doesn’t make a profit, it shouldn’t exist.

I’m more baffled by most people I know outright celebrating it.

Social Security is LITERALLY the definition of an entitlement.

“Don’t buy anything on Feb 28th. We’ll boycott everything. That’ll show those big companies!”
…So everyone fills their gas tank and buys groceries the day before. Yeah that’ll teach companies the power of a boycott.

I give it two months before they ban all women pilots.
I hate this timeline so much.

I know I’m just some goober on the internet, but I’m over here looking at this post, thinking,
“Mara Wilson… why does that sound so familiar?”
💡DING! 😁
Oh! And followed!

I don’t know when it first started, but there have been snipers during every Super Bowl for years.

Louisiana has “Constitutional Carry”. Anyone with a pulse and without a felony, is allowed to open carry (I think). EXCEPT for in government buildings and stuff. But keep in mind the Super Bowl will have snipers nested around the ceiling.

I’ve been hearing “he can’t” for the past decade. And he just keeps can-ning all over the place. But I do hope you’re right.

I’m curious to see how pharmaceutical companies will be dealing with this. They carry a lot of power and influence in business and government and don’t like when someone starts messing with their ability to make money.

Many federal jobs are services. They exist to keep society running. The fact that they don’t exist SOLELY to create profit does not compute to people whose entire life purpose is to make profits.
