It's my birthday a week from today and look, if you're trying to think of the perfect present I think being a bestselling author would be a great way to celebrate turning 43. Grab a copy of my book, The Dad Rock That Made Me a Woman wherever books are grabbed. 📚🔗: utpress.utexas.edu/9781477331484/

my periodic reminder that your artistic work — your writing, music, dance, whatever it is — is crucially important for you and for the people who receive it, in ways you might never personally experience or grasp. you gotta trust me, please keep going

counterpoint: the breadth and color of your public self makes you seem whole, relatable — and marketable, too. when your work is excellent, it’s all the more believable and enjoyable for the breadcrumb trail you’ve left. be open, be yourself

at least there’s a fucking impossibly excellent new lemonheads song

You live in a country where they are banning Shel Silverstein and Calvin & Hobbes

Why bother manufacturing consent when you can just criminalize dissent

Who was practicing any kind of climate policy throughout the early 2000s and wants to talk to us about what the big contours of that were like while the country was caught up in a post 9/11 pro war and anti Muslim fever?

This is incredibly beautiful storytelling.

solid, worth reading

I wish people would stop describing things that are indisputably provable as a matter of fact as "controversial." People not liking a fact doesn't mean the fact is controversial. Reality is not malleable around our beliefs and it shouldn't be. We need to stop acting like it is.

Today @genderlib.com and activist volunteers took HRT in front of the Supreme Court and then occupied the street in front of the building. This was in defiance and dissent against Skrmetti, a demonic SCOTUS ruling that will kill so, so many trans people. Please do not avert your eyes.

Fuck yeah. 30+ years without a Cup, but this is a true championship

In case you haven’t noticed, the election of even a single person who is considered leftist is so terrifying to capitalists that every weapon imaginable is on the table. This is why, post-WWII, America worked with Nazis, supported dictators, engaged in international terrorism and assassinations.

OK i’ve seen almost no media outlet pick up on the fact the Supreme Court ruling endorsed conversion therapy and opens a portal to the normalization of conversion therapy nationally so here’s a thread explaining how they did so, and why you should care (1/x)

The fact I wrote this in five minutes while eating dinner and not a single mainstream news outlet has picked up on the story yet is an indication that maybe MSM should hire more trans reporters
